gidday
just purchased some 2nd hand roof racks and rails for my surf. Just curious as to any tips you guys have for mounting the rails to the roof ? what size rivets you used etc etc or whether you just went with tek screws or similar ?
cheers

Hi Salmon Sam,

Rhino usually pop rivet there tracks to the roof, they use 5mm rivet. Good thing is once you have drilled your holes in the right spot is to rust prove it and fill the hole and around the holes with silicon.

Don't use silicone, if it comes away you won't get any thing to stick to it, not even silicone unless you use the special primer.
Use polyurethane sealant (Sikaflex).

Size your rivets based on the size of the hole in the track. For the drill, slide some fuel hose over the drill so that only 1/4" is sticking out the end. Then when you drill the hole and if the drill grabs, it won't punch a hole through the hood lining.
