Limited Tow Bar options for PX?

My PX Towbar is really annoying me.
It is the last mod I need to make to my car.
Here are the options so far

Genuine Mazda $600-$650.00

A guy at ARB mentioned that they might be working on a rear step / bar for the PX Ranger, have you talked to your local shop?

Just had the Mazda towbar fitted yesterday.

I laugh each time I go past a Ranger with the manure spreader on the back they calla Towbar.

The PX looks great - apart from that towbar - WTF!!!!!

I have a BT-50, mainly due the $4000 price difference and my partner not liking Ford (I didn't tell her who designed it / made it etc...)

Got quoted $440.00 without the loom. The guy was easy to deal with as well got my photos fast.

I went to ARB today to check out options. I asked about the price for the Hayman Reece Bar and the price was 629.00 what was listed on the hayman Reece web page. I asked if he could do any better than RRP and got a firm NO. I also asked about the rear bar but he had no information.

I am going to purchase this bar.

How much did the bt50 bar cost?
Any more pics of that bar. I would like to know what bar is better

They sell it as 3 parts (bar, ball & loom)
The parts were about $550 (including the loom) on my invoice, but there is a bit of fudging in there.

This one looks better than the original ford one!

Got a BT50 Bar from Mazda today. $491.00 they had one in stock.
Does not fit it hits the spare Tyre.
Also there are no holes for the chrome bumper to go on as well.
Lucky the Guy there was a champ and said I could take it back.
While I had it I did some measurements.
It is only 40mm Higher than the Ranger bar.

Also the towbar Australia one does not seem to be much higher either. From the pictures it seems that the ball is in the same spot but it is higher on the sides because the square recieving bracket is welded to the bottom of the bar.

I will have to put my thinking cap on and maybe modify the standard bar.

In the meantime the truck looks so much better without the bar and chrome bumper.. Weighs a ton as well. The rear has lifted 10mm

Don't know what the Ford PX Manual says, but the BT-50 manual says:-
"If the rear towing eye is not fitted, the recommended towing point is the left or right side rear suspension shackle."

That's why I brought a TowBar and the Recovery Points.
I has made my rear bumper a bit higher (noticed this today - the tailgate only goes 97-98% of the way down) will get fixed at the next service.

Time to get the grinder and welder out and start modifying the original.
The standard towbar is so over engineered it is not funny.
It is 10 times stronger than the chassis rails it bolts to.
The funny thing is my trailer has a 2tonne rated coupler. It is held onto the trailer by 2 high tensile bolts.
The ford towbar has 10 massive bolts.
The bar is 100x100 steel then half of it has a 5mm steel wrap over that and the extra reinforcing around the hitch area.
I think the bar would need 20 tonne to get any flex out of it.

I have the Hayman Reece bar on my BT-50 - ARB put it on using a genuine Mazda wire loom. Sits up nice and high only problem i can see is there is not alot of room for a bigger spare tyre on a 17 inch rim!
OK for me as i have dropped down to a 16 running a 265/75 MT ATZ 4 rib.- enough room JUST!
So just check with them when they install

Is it to much to ask if you could post some pics of the hayman reece bar. The pics on te website are a not real clear

I have done some research and the cab chasis towbar on a bt50 fits a px ranger but you will have to loose the bumper and it sits a bit below the spare but it sit more than 40mm more like 75mm so I am changing my towbar soon anyone want a cheap PX towbar
