Where to buy some widgets?

For the stuff that's NOT 4WD related, here's where you can come on in and discuss it, but do play nice!

Where to buy some widgets?

Unread post by Shann Low » September 15th, 2015, 7:16 pm

Anyone know where i can buy some of these little widgets please guys?

Image

They are a 1 & 1/8th inch bronze ring. (28.5mm).

I found some in a US hardware and tried to buy em online, but they don't ship overseas. :irked:

Keen to buy a bunch of em locally.

Need to find a couple dozen or so... any idea where in Oz might sell them?

Many TIA.

Try someone like

I have been surprised repeatedly on the range of stuff that they have - give a branch a ring

Just non ferrous i.e. non magnetic.
Brass just looks good polished is all.

Was thinking to make a couple these for the grand kids for Xmas is all.

Cute! Our local camping store had somewhat similar stainless bits and pieces, but I think the rings weren't solid, but had a butt joint int hem.

Yeah - you wouldn't think it would be so hard to find them here.

If I knew what they were made / used for - then I could probably search better for them.

That or open a USA forwarding address box... buy them online in the US and ship them to my forwarding address then pay to have them posted I guess.

If they are ferrous they kinda give away the fact there's a hidden magnet...& movable center pin. Same with if they have a joint... people would just bend the ring to get it out then bend it back.

I've no idea what they are used for thus who might stock them. I have looked under curtain rings etc...

Dunno...

According to Google 316 stainless is austentic stainless steel and hence non magnetic..

So in theory these should work:

Since you mentioned it, why not a wooden curtain ring ?

Wood would work, but might also allude to the magnet since the posts are metal etc. The non magnetic aspect might lull some into dismissing notions of a magnet as part of the trick kind of thing.

Puzzles are great, but that ones dishonest.

Plenty good suggestions there guys - I will go with something I guess.

Was thinking to buy a couple dozen and make 24 of the things - give the grand kids one each and flog the rest off on gumtree or something.

I've a few different puzzles / tricks in mind... just a hobby idea... to keep my hands outta getting into strife. :D

This one would use those rattle can thingy's probably Blutoy.
