Female friend of mine decided a simple ink Tattoo wasn't the way to go for this design to be permanently marked on the body!!!!

Stuff that.

Closest to scarification I've got is a branding when drunk

Wow, that's a bit much.

I have edited the subject line as I know a few people who would find that image confronting.

Hope it heals up as expected, keloids can be a bit random.

Sorry, but 'gore' &/or blood is apparently the limit...

Personally, I just don't understand why people would want to subject themselves to this sort of maiming, I've got too many 'forcibly acquired' scars & disfigurements to want to voluntarily add any more!! And as I get older many of those I do have are bringing increasing pain & restrictions to everything I do! To me, this sort of thing doesn't seem too much different from the hideous maiming that some beggars inflict upon themselves (or their kids) in order to make them look more horrendous & pitiful so as to improve their daily begging take!!

Buuut, just so long as it's not something being forced upon me & mine, I guess it comes down to whatever floats your boat.... & a lot of the scars & disfigurements I have come from doing my bit to make sure you can make that choice yourself, so if it's your choice.... still don't understand it tho?!?
An Ex-Service person is someone who thought enough about their country & how great it is, how lucky we are to live here, to write a blank cheque made out to 'The People and Commonwealth of Australia' for the value of 'Up to & including my Life!'

Haven't been shocked like that for a while.

Never even heard of it. Seen pics on the net of red tattoos and thought
thats what they where. After researching what this actually is, Scarification,
them photos where of open wounds not red coloured tatts.

Not usually shocked by much but yeh. Pretty out there.

I'm heavily tattood and wouldnt even think of doing this.

I've got a fair few scars, some of which I've actually considered covering with a tattoo, this is an ...interesting variation.

though not hugely different from the Maori moko, which, (and my history might be hazy) was similar to a tattoo but cutting into the flesh with a chisel...

my first thought though was... "Wow that'd be a BLEEP to keep clean and infection free"
I work for my weekends... and damn it, I WILL enjoy them

She has to keep it exposed as much as possible. If she thinks she's going into an environment that may contaminate, she has to wrap it up with glad wrap, but when ever possible it's to stay open. Apparently this creates the right scaring effect. Dressing it and applying creams or what not heals it differently. :)
