For the stuff that's NOT 4WD related, here's where you can come on in and discuss it, but do play nice!

Some cunning ploy to get everyone out into the big blue room over the weekend? I was on a fishing charter but do look in on the forum if I get bored.

We have heard so many excuses on why this forum does not run yet it still does not run. Attached to a major 4wd mag surely it can run 24 hours a day and on weekends. Other smaller home based sites run fun this one runs like ......

When is this site finally going to get its act together?

For me, it's office hours only. Passes time, plus I have a computer I can use at work. Only got my mobile at home

Pete A has said this - viewtopic.php?f=28&t=136878&start=105

"The Forum is having issues atm, anything you do that will take a while stands a good chance of timing out. There are a number of things going on that means the 'normal' (albeit possibly slow) performance we get is somewhat worse. The Mod/Admin Team (all volunteers btw) know about it, the fella's at A4WDA know about it, the IT blokes know about it and are looking into it (and making things even slower.... :( ) and it is being addressed with some priority, but it probably isn't going to be fixed overnight! All I can offer atm is 'keep trying'; if you get half a screen, hit F5 & refresh the screen; try again in ten minutes or so and the shorter term peak load may had dropped a bit so that the 'normal' slow performance will let you post before it times out again; oooorrr, you could wait until the next upgrade goes thru, and see how it goes then - but that might be a while down track, I don't know when it's going to happen, and I suspect neither do the A4WDA blokes, we are all waiting on the IT mob for that & they are working on it....."

We all know it's slow & timing out a lot, and that's being looked at, but it isn't going to suddenly get better overnight; it might take days, weeks, or maybe even longer! I can't put a time frame on it, no matter how many times you or anyone else asks, I've passed on all the info I have - they are working on it, hopefully it'll be fixed soon! We'll tell you as soon as we know any more. What more can I say?? :whyme:

I reckon its just a ploy by the Admins to have a 5 day a week 9-5.30 forum

be a nice gig if you could get it

They use Amazon web services and (I think) Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud. It all points to us-east and load balancers. There is a good chance that the IT mob are pulling their hair out as much as anyone, as that sort of stuff should just work.

It does all sound a bit too complex for its own good though.

Thanks Chris for posting the info.
We now will have to be patient at the weekend, all OK , seems all are working on the problem.

Yet the 4wd Action 'promotional' emails continue thick and fast on the weekends when this forum is down.

Curious.

Curious.

The web site and receiving of emails come from two totally different services.

This is becoming too frequent. If it were my business I would be changing servers, IT people or both. I belong to several forums, some way smaller than this and they are all go 24/7. I know we get access for free but that is no excuse for a crappy service.

It's getting more rare for me to even bother trying anymore.
