Warning about your air freshener's

For the stuff that's NOT 4WD related, here's where you can come on in and discuss it, but do play nice!

The trees are ok I have found, never had a problem with any of my cars. The liquid vent ones are crap
....have 23 trees on the stalk now, 10 short of my best..:frog: :)

My brother found out that his max was 46 on the indicator stalk before it wouldnt stay up by itself :p
We tend to be able to smell each other before we ca see each other

Mate I got the tree's in my cruiser.

Well the new bit of plastic was fitted today the missus told me it cost $600 for the general public thank god she works at the dealership.

I also went back to supercheap today the manager said she would call me late today 5pm and no phone call, looks like I got to go back down and pay them a visit. I don't have a receipt but the air freshener had on it SCA.

Air fresheners are not the only issue,
some time back I was covering my arms with Bushman's insect deterrent then put my hand on the vinyl seat of my Prado, my hand started to slip then I noticed it was actually the vinyl melting!
I managed to smooth it back down and all was good nut could have been really bad!

I've had a air freshener spray bottle leak in the bathroom, strip the paint on the window sill just like paint stripper.

It is not just plastics that can be attacked. Years ago my wife had a small bottle of potpourri or something similar and it was placed on the dressing table. It was in a small fired clay pot. When it was shifted, the stain finish on the timberwork had a very obvious ring shape where the potpourii / container had damaged the stain.

I think the over-riding message here is try really...really hard not to fart in the car in the first place ...... :urgh:
get in, sit down, shut up....& hang on....

simplify... declutter... and go forth with purpose.

Firstly, Nissan warranty is a joke. You have a better chance of winning Lotto than you have of Nissan Australia doing the right thing. I've only owned a new Nissan for 11mths and based on the hassles I've already had with Nissan Australia not honouring warranty on faulty parts, I will not buy another.

As for the $340 they quoted you on the replacement part, get the part no, then go to http://www.amayama.com/ and get yourself a quote.

The parts are genuine.

My $300 part was $67 from Amayama, so it just goes to show how much Nissan Australia is ripping us off!

I would take it back as a warranty claim, just dont mention the air freshener.

As well as the freshener I think it says something about the quality of Nissan plastic.

Car dealers know EXACTLY what the cause is and wont ever allow a claim. Its not aboutt hem allowing it or doing the right thing. Their product didnt fail, you have no claim

The car fresherner company also know what their products do and ive successfully claimed on a $1400 AUDI repair, a Few $500ish cruiser repairs and a Astra that was around $600 for my customers

And if those solvents do that to plastic, what are they doing to your lungs?? . I just put a few drops of essential oil, ( lavender or citrus oil) on an old rag & leave it under the seat. does the job, & no toxic solvents

Something else to watch out for is orange juice. If you spill it, get it all wiped up IMMEDIATELY!

I had a mouthful of orange juice left in a hungry jacks up on a hot day. It ate through the bottom of the cup then over a little firelighter (the ones where you scrape the steel on the flint to make sparks). It plastic welded the lid shut and I never got it open again!

We where issued repellant in the army & told to keep it away from plastic. The stuff worked a treat, no insect would come near you, we'd even put all our mozzy nets in a washing machine on rinse cycle with a bottle of the stuff, worked a treat.

Suddenly we where told to bin the stuff and never use it again, hmm, what was that Feal.
