Next is Revell's "Australian T900 Kenworth". It's just an American truck with an aussie bullbar and raised air intakes. I've got from Auslowe a shorter bonnet, fuel tanks, mudguards, air intakes and air kit for the roof.

I shortened the chassis to accommodate the shorter bonnet. There were 2 dashes in the kit, a RHD and LHD. The LHD had a lot more detail. I cut up the LHD and placed the bits on the RHD dash.

A prime mover needs trailers, so I've rebuilt 2 old trailers I had sitting on the shelf.

Next, I built a International Paystar dump truck with a gravel trailer. Both kits are from AMT. I got a RHD dash and mudflaps from Auslowe.

My current project is something different. I started with I taleri's Australian Scania "Road Runner". I placed the cab on a Peterbilt 8x4 chassis. The sleeper is from Italeri's "Mack" Rainbow Truck. The fuel tanks are from Revell's Australian Kenworth. Got the RHD dash from KPGT (ebay), the air cleaners, bullbar and wheels are from Auslowe. The truck's painted in Linfox colors and will get a quad fuel tanker behind it.

Are you fitting these units with RC and motor drives with a sound chip and speakers? (eg http://www.mrrc.com.au/general/soundtra ... u-750.html ). There should be a way of having the stacks give a black puff as you move off.

Nah mate, these are just stationary models, not designed to be driven. I used to own a 1/14 scale tamiya truck with all the bells and whistles on it. Those are a whole different type of model trucks.

I am amazed at how real you can make them look....that said I don't know how you can be patient enough while doing it to be able to end up with something so life-like....if it were me, I wouldn't get too far with it

Cheers MI, for me it has a relaxing influence on me. I can become a little impatience whilst spray painting. It takes a few thin coats to get good results which means longer drying times etc. There are model truck builders out there who build a lot more realistic and with a lot more detail than what I do.
