My other hobby.

Unread post by HDJ78R » June 11th, 2013, 8:56 pm

I started building 1/24-25 scale model trucks again. It's very relaxing and a good time consumer. This is a ERTL Volvo N10 released in the late 70's early 80's. The chassis is made in metal, all the other parts are plastic. There's lots of chromed parts. I removed the chrome from most as it doesn't look good when glued together.

It's been over 10 years since I've build a model. This one's just about build from the box to get the feel for it again. On a later date I'll more challenging models with some more changes and scratch building.

Enjoy

The Volvo is just about finished it only needs some decals and susie coils. I've started a milk trailer to put behind it.

Have you seen the local milk tanker done in the black and white Fresian cow decals?

Thanks foogill,

I have seen milk tankers with cow decals. I going to get some harvey fresh mik decals made for my trailer.
I have to consider that both truck and trailer are about 30 years old, I'm not going to put decals that are to modern.

Nice work on the big rig there HDJ...

My other hobby is a when I am dead broke project... I have been interested in railways and railroad systems since I was a kid. I used to watch the coal trains in awe rumbling past my pops place in Wacol when I was little. Moving to WA I now had 7 mile rail yard just up the road from us in Karratha. The mighty ore haulers uses to slowly roll past the dump into the transfer yards to dump the payload which then was carried by conveyer out through Dampier.
Now I have ended up with quite a collection of miniature working models I always have something to build when there is nothing else to do. The young fella is going to have quite a mad train set when he get a bit older and realizes whats in the spare room.
Cheers
Chris.

Off road when I'm good...in the shed when I'm naughty.

There's lots you can do with train diorama's. I've seen some awesome ones over the years.
