Questions that need answers!

For the stuff that's NOT 4WD related, here's where you can come on in and discuss it, but do play nice!

There is, but you probably couldn't pay enough money to reserve them

Although 0444 444 444is already reserved http://www.technoid.com.au/tag/0444-444-444/

Its reserved for all emergency texts

BUT why do ALL American phone numbers in movies and on TV always start with 555 ?

That's because it's an 'un-allocated' prefix & if anyone from the viewing audience tries calling it their call won't get anyone. :ooh:

Imagine how annoyed you'd be if you started getting random 'movie watchers' calling your phone number to see who answered, or if it really was the number for the 'Mission Impossible' command centre, or something even sillier (orright already, I know that there probably ISN'T something even sillier, it was just a figure of speech!! :o ) At least the movie producers have made an effort to avoid any inconvenience to (or lawsuits from) the owners of a 'real' phone number. ;)
An Ex-Service person is someone who thought enough about their country & how great it is, how lucky we are to live here, to write a blank cheque made out to 'The People and Commonwealth of Australia' for the value of 'Up to & including my Life!'

My ol man always used to ask my kids when they were growing up...

How many beans make five?

Kids would frown and think about it a while - and answer 5?

And he'd answer, "Nah - it's a bean and a half, a bean and a half, half a bean and a bean and a half!.

My kids learned to do fractions, at a time where other kids used calculators and answered questions in decimal points.

I do worry at what will become of our world - with the "dumbing down" of society generally!

I reckon 'retirees/grandparents should attend schools to help teach kids skills from yesteryear (yeah - like readin, ritin and rithmatic! ;)

Sounds like me - accidentally vaccinated at birth with a gramophone needle and haven't shut up since!.
It's been said of me, I could talk underwater, with a mouth full of marbles!. ;)
I once in my youth had a nick name.. "Biro" - (After the old "Bic Biro" TV Advert "Guaranteed 1000 words in every refill" - they said that's what happened, every time they gave me another beer).

Why do some people get upset when called a big ape when some scientist say we come from monkeys.

"MudChaser

cause evolution is a progression to a more superior species, implying if we were monkeys then we were dumber. so an ape is a dumbo, and a big ape is probably dumber
