FJ Cruiser missing bonnet vent covers

Unread post by Todka » August 17th, 2015, 8:17 pm

Hi folks,

I rented an FJ for the last 4 weeks travelling from Broome to Perth.
During the trip, 2 of the 4 air vent covers that sit between the bonnet and windscreen flew off at separate times.
I hired from Australian 4WD hire, who now want $252 to replace them. I'm quite sure we didn't have any contact with the vents, so I think they have probably become dislodged via manufacturing defect.
Has anyone else had a similar issue with these vents? I'm trying to work out if it's fair that they push this cost back to me or not.

Thanks in advance,
Todka.

If it's a rental wouldn't it be covered by warranty still?
Probably trying to scam you - charge you for the parts, and get dealer to pay for it as well under warranty.

I think if its covered by warranty, they are being unreasonable. They are quoting their Ts & C's to me saying its in there. Of course whether it's fair and reasonable is another matter.
