New To Victoria

Unread post by ChrisAllen1990 » May 3rd, 2015, 8:01 pm

Hey Guys

I have recently moved from Tasmania to Victoria.
Currently in the Mount Waverly area and looking for a club to join so I can do some wheeling and learn where the tracks are.

If vehicle capability is a requirement I drive a FJ62 Landcruiser with 4 inches of lift with 33" muddies, it also has front and rear ARB airlockers.

This might help you find one, as to what you want to do you will have to search around to find one that suits your type of 4wding or maybe tell the forum a little more of the type of club/driving that you are looking for

I am looking for challenging 4WDing but not to the kind where you have to break your 4WDing to get it through.

I have done the West Coast of Tasmania including Montezuma Falls, Pieman Heads, Lake Cumberland and Climies track.

Most of the 4WDing I have done has been on muddy tracks rather then technical rocky ones and so far I have loved it.
Club wise I would like one that is able to show me the tracks and have a few drinks round the camp fire as well not afraid to get out and give the tough tracks a go.

Are there any where I can rock up to a trip and see if 4WDing ideals are similar to my own ?

Most of the Clubs affiliated with the State Association (see the link in Chris_stoffa's post above) will let you come & try before forcing you to join :D And most of them are fairly well used to people visiting for a trip/meeting or 2 just to see if they are the sort of people/4Wheelers the potential newbie wants to go driving with; but I'd say they ALL are open to showing prospective or recently joined members a few of their favourite tracks and maybe even finding a couple of tougher tracks too - and they all tend to be made up of members that are prepared to enjoy a bit of socialisation around the camp fire and to pitch in and help make sure your 4Wheeling is enjoyable & not too damaging! :thumb:

Check out the list for Clubs/Groups near you first, and give em a try, you'll never know unless you take that first step & try to contact them!!

Just scrolling thru the threads & posts here might also reveal a bunch of like minded 4Wheelers nearby too - but you shouldn't necessarily let distance stop you; like many others, I'm a member of a few Clubs & 4Wheeling groups, not all of which are even in this Country, let alone in my 'home State' or nearby, but none of them have bothered tossing me out yet & I still manage to get out there with most of them at least once every couple of years! ;)
An Ex-Service person is someone who thought enough about their country & how great it is, how lucky we are to live here, to write a blank cheque made out to 'The People and Commonwealth of Australia' for the value of 'Up to & including my Life!'
