Meet Feral Dave at Janowen Hills 16-17 Feb

Unread post by TroopiePete » January 14th, 2013, 1:03 am

Janowen Hills is a very diverse 4wd park with many different tracks and excellent camping facilities.
http://janowenhills4wdpark.bigpondhosti ... boutus.htm

Why not come out for a fun weekend at Janowen Hills, meet our members and mingle with our guests.

To help us enjoy the weekend I have invited a few mates, these currently include;

Dave Challinor "Feral" from Fortified Finance, Many will know Dave from the 4WD Action DVD's with Roothy and Glenn Haddon, most recently DVD 191. Dave will be joining us for the weekend, we look forward to spending time with Dave and maybe see if we can't get the Nissan dirty... oh did I forget to mention that part Dave

Torque 4x4 For the best 4x4 accessories from your independent 4x4 specialists!
We hope to have a small display of their equipment plus possibly out on the tracks for some real displays - details still being worked on. http://www.torq4x4.com.au/

Our plan is to have several different runs around the park and some demonstrations of the more difficult tracks, join in or watch it's up to you. This weekend is intended to introduce people to the world of 4WD, bring together people with similar interests and ultimately introduce prospective members to our club.

You will find our group to be friendly and only too happy to show you around, but just as eager to sit back and let you show off your truck and abilities. For us it's not about how many dings you can get or how many rocks you can throw, it's more about how technical you can be to navigate difficult terrain with the minimal chance of damage to both you and the tracks.
But ultimately we are out there to have fun in our daily drivers, with this in mind "Beer 'O' Clock is a very important part of the day so don't be offended when we all head back to camp, gather around the fire or shady tree and just kick back joking about how many times we had to recover that Troopy, or Nissan.

The weekend is very much self catered so please bring your own food and drinks but we are planning on a damper and other camp oven cooked meals, so throw in your best recipes show off your skillz, not all will be cooking but many are only too pleased to sample your goods, often we all will just throw in what we have and see what comes out of the pot!

This event is being hosted by the River City 4WD Club of Brisbane, but you are all invited!
Remember this park is under 2 hrs from Brisbane and is easily done as a day trip so even if you cannot camp over night you are welcome to join us for a fun day in the hills.

What to bring weekend, camping kit, Food & Drinks, recovery gear and full tanks of fuel,
But most importantly your sense of humour, fun is our main aim

Meeting Point:
The Shell servo at Aratula for 7am Departure time 7:30am
If you wish to make a long weekend of it you can meet us at the park but please let me know.
Our club sits on UHF CB CH28 so if running late give us a call.

Dirtying my Nissan???? It's filthy mate! I've only washed it once since I got back from the Kimberley! I can't help it my multi coloured stickers hide the dirt so well!!!

Looking forward to it mate and meeting everyone for a yarn around the fire!! Let hope the rain stays away!

Hey guys, I just saw that the Opposite Lock Challenge is on at Janowen for the same weekend. Sounds like it's going to be an action packed weekend
So many weekends, so many tracks...so little fuel!

Yep know about the Opposite lock challenge, it should make the weekend interesting with the extra cars but it's a big park and the play areas are off to one side of most tracks so this should not cause an issue, actually it helps as the kitchen will be open so food will be available to order.

Wow, that's a new kind of camping! Great that's it's big enough to accommodate everyone. And fun to watch

Hey troopy, an update for you. My GU has been in the workshop for the last week and will be this week also. I'm told the boys will have it all done for a Friday morning pick up. Nothing like loving on the edge time wise! Hahaha

Wow we have made it home and apart form the mud stuck in the rear springs all parties had a good time!
A Big thanks to Dave and Family for attending the weekend it would not have been the same without you mate :-)
For a change the weather behaved and while we did have a little rain it was short and a good long sit around the camp fire was possible Saturday night.
We had a very good turnout and I think all of our visitors are keen to join our club for other outings and some have already signed up for actual membership so it's a fantastic result all around.. But most of all we had fun!
Some of us only did a morning run checking out a few of the sights and learning how to turn around in tight spaces when the trip leader (me) decided not to proceed any further due to deteriorated track conditions, after lunch we returned to camp for a rest, about half of the group then headed out to spend more time in on the tracks while the rest of us enjoyed the atmosphere, chatted quite a bit and sampled a few drinks :-)
