Mine would be apple crumble, simple, easy and great for after a nice roast meal.

Roast beef in the camp oven, served with damper and gravy. Topped off with a few cold ales..

Guinness braised beef cheeks, buttery mashed potatoes, mushy peas

serve with more guinness, red wine, beer what ever your drink of fancy but needs to be able to stand up to big flavours

Love any sort of camp cooking ,I just do not understand the whole camp oven thing in some cases almost like a religious offering or maybe a pagan feast,
I just don't get the carring around 15kgs of cast iron just to cook in :D ;) :D
Cheers

I agree about the roasts. All roasts are good but i have to say that i love a nice curry simmering away in the camp oven. Might not taste as good as a roast but the aroma wofting around the camp site is sensational.

A nice large chook on a trivet in the camp oven. Some thinly sliced lemon and garlic slid under the skin with fresh thyme, then shove a small lemon and brown onion cut in half up its bum with a few cloves of smashed garlic, along with a bunch of thyme. Pour lemon juice over the skin and season with S&P.

Slow cook it for a few hours, adding some veg along the way.

If you can, take it out of the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes.
Plate up and spoon over the juices from the bottom of the oven.
