I've only used the lockers once so far, back on the Cup weekend. Used them on a really steep and rocky track up in Toolangi, and they worked a treat. Two Patrols, (both unlocked and with the standard lsd), and they struggled to get up this track where I was able to get up with less stress on the ute. The things I like about them is that as soon as the switch is on, the lockers are engaged. And the is no compressor to worry about. The other thing is that they can be operated independently to each other. (front only, rear only or both together). So far I've been happy with them.

Cheers mate. The lockers for a HDJ79 are a bit more expensive compared to the earlier HZJ79/75 because Toyota changed the axle shafts and diff centre just enough to be difficult. I can't speak for the V8 'Cruisers as I don't know if Toyota kept the rear diff the same as my ute, or if they changed things again.

The main issue that I was told about was that Toyota changed the number of splines on the axle shafts in the rear diff, which meant a slight change to the diff centre as well, and they are unique to the HDJ79's. That is what the diff specialist were telling me. Whether Toyota changed things again for the VDJ79's I couldn't tell you.
