FJ45 Cab on fj40 Chassis

Unread post by tazziedevil1981 » December 15th, 2011, 9:22 pm

I Have recently brought a fj40 with a 308 and 4 speed, and a rusty body. I have found a fj45 laying in a mates backyard and now going to put that cab on the 40 chassis.
The motor and gear box have jus been thown back in and are just hanging off the engine mounts. the gearbox has a rubber mount under it.
My First question(many more to come) will everthing hold together with just the bellhousing to chassis mounts or do I need to source a gearbox x member too.

I thought I better upload some photos of my fj40 before I start work on the old girl. Cab is restorable but want to put a fj45 cab on.

Sounds like it could be a good swap out, I have seen a simular set up in the town i live and they kept the rear part of the 40 cab and made a litle style side ute set up looks good. Did you think about a 5 speed from a 86 troopy (mate has a shorty 40 that we will be installing a five speed into and my FJ45 now has a 5speed goes well. And power steering from the FJ45 is a must, so grab that if you can. Remember with the old toyo cruisers just about everything will fit from one model to the next!
