Bloody slippery grass, innit!! I reckon that'd be a 'carpet out' drying task, dunno what to do with the driving lights tho, even if you take the globes out & dry it all, the reflectors are gonna suffer a little!!

Great build up mate and good to see you using the thing...I bought a 76 series late last year and like you and building it up bit by bit.

Have you bought your exhaust yet I got a 3" SS fitted for $1100 in Adelaide by AAA in Richmond cant recommend mark enough.

Even allow me to fluff about and and measure mark then pre drill the hole I needed for the my EGT gauge etc

Cheers

Peter, it now seems the issues may go deeper including water in the fuel starting issues! Not a happy camper at all, even a week later there is still water in the lights! Pretty big job ahead for him, but sending it in for a service next week. Sounds like it will be an expensive mistake! The 5" lift he ordered about a month back just paid for itself if/when he attempts it again! Not one to let something conquer him haha!

Not bought the exhaust yet, akin. I have spoken to all the big companies and a few of the local ones like Exhaust Technology who have done exhausts on my 2 previous cars (didn't speak to AAA) but have decided on A Beaudesert Exhaust, compared quotes with a few others and they are going to price match so, will be placing an order for a straight through 3" mild steel pipe with flex bellow, hi-flow cat and a resonator in the middle (instead of the thicker muffler), as I understand this will give me the loudest note without the deceleration crackle of a completely straight through system. It also comes with the EGT point built in.

Now just waiting on funds to come through in a couple of weeks and it will be ordered! Going to make sure I do a heap of video comparisons between standard exhaust/ engine noise and after the upgrade too for everyone following this thread.

If you're keen to catch up when you're in Adelaide mate, send me a PM.

Cheers!

Haven't really done any new mods lately, been too busy out using the truck on trips!

Have been back up to Jakem Farm, a few trips up to Yorkes and just got back from an awesome weekend up at Loveday 4x4 Park, which was great. Also met up with a few 76 owners from Adelaide and went for a cruise up to Goolwa beach for a beer and a catch up and this weekend we're all heading up to Jakem Farm again.

I'm having a few issues which I will need to sort out fairly soon too. As I mentioned back when I was installing my rear drawers ages ago, the GXL model didn't have the rear bolts through the floor-pan to secure the drawers in place at the rear of the vehicle, so they are really only held down by 2 bolts under the rear bench seat... Even though they weigh about 130kg+ with all the gear and tools in there, the back bounces up and slams back down over any small bump offroad. This is obviously not ideal and think i'll start causing some serious damage and may even rip the two bolts through the floor pan under the rear seat if i'm not careful..

The thing i'm not sure about is... how the hell am I going to secure the rear if there is no places to bolt to... I was thinking about drilling through the floor and putting a bolt and some sealant to attach it to the floor, but offcourse the longrange tank is in the way and I can't reach it... I have thought about running a bracket to the side panels but have no way of attaching it.. Such a small job but very time consuming..

If anyone has any ideas on how they secured their own drawers that would be very helpful!

Here's pic from Loveday on one of the flex tracks.. As you can see.. Not a lot from the 76 with 2" lift, loves to lift a wheel!

Hey Brades, Have you thought about nutserts into the floor, and bolting the rear drawers to them? Alternatively, some large pop rivets would probably do just as good a job if you don't plan on removing the drawers any time soon. Spread them out to spread the load over a wider area and you'll be right.

Love the truck and what you've done to it Brades. I've been toying with the idea of one of these for a while now, but all the cheap ones are ex-mining, and the non-mining ones are well out of my price range. They're certainly not a plush wagon, but they're definitely tough as nails.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers,
Matt

Dammit. Just saw the date of your previous post. I'm guessing in the month between your last post and me bombing in you've sorted it.

Cheers,
Matt
