Go and set up camp at the Bay of Fires. Great scenery, free to camp and easily accessible to some good tracks.

Also buy yourself a copy of Chris Boden's '4WD Tracks in Tasmania' - well worth it's purchase cost many times over.

Cheers

North East - about a 4 hour drive from Hobart taking it nice and easy. Great scenic road north of Sorell up to there - I thoroughly recommend it.

I've got a trip report from December last year at: www.cewilson.offroader.com.au if you are interested.

Cheers

haven't done cockle creek in 18 years lol but very nice down there, good camping, bloody cold. 1 of the recent mags did a write up down there. Also you could Brunie Island, haven't that 1 yet but will eventually

There is a track that goes from Grove near Hounville around the back of Mt Wellington to Lachlin and the New Norfolk. I tried it with the camper trailer in tow, not recommended!!! Will finish it without the trailer. The book mentioned above is a great buy. updates for it are on the web too. Just been down to Cockle. Can drive a Yaris down there ok. Great scenery and fishing. Bruny Island is also brilliant, although there is one road on south past saying 4x4 only, I met normal cars on there, and they might of had some trouble. Enjoy.
