Wombat Warriors

Unread post by JBird » September 9th, 2013, 6:02 pm

Howdy all,

Just a report on the weekend trip to Wombat State Forest.

Unfortunately our trip organiser (Skewl) couldn't make it due to a bad case of gastro (hope you're feeling better mate) so that left 3 cars: HuskyBT50, Fiery & myself. As a result of Luke's gastro we now had no official route, but not to worry, we just hit the tracks and seen where they took us; all in all I think there were only 3 that we couldn't get through.

Had a ripper day I must say, weather was great, tracks were muddy and the company was as to be expected ... awesome!
Casualties included me losing a beadlock ring, a rear mudflap, bending up the rear arb step slightly and rolling a tyre off the bead; Keithy (Fiery) I think just lost a front flap; and Ruben (Husky) did bloody nothin as far as I know lol.

All in all, bloody fantastic day out, bring on the next one.

Here's some pics for now until Keith emails me some that he took, also have some dashcam footage I'll get up at some point.

Jealous Jealous Jealous.

Looks like the mud you guys where playing in is a lot nicer than the mud I've been spitting the last couple of days. So sorry guys, I tried avoiding the kids and was saying all week I can't get it.

The ute was packed Saturday arvo ready to rock n roll, I had lunch packed and all, actually it's all still in the fridge in the back.

Looks like you had a good day and those holes looked like alot of fun.

I'll be moving into the caravan the week before next time so this doesn't happen again.

Hey JBird , I'd like to come to the defence of Rueben aka Husky, I believe that he has be unjustly vilified

Rueben did do something !!! ;)

He turned up on time at the Greendale Oval, apparently the rest of the group were late.

He didn't defect despite an offer to join another group for their trip, he stayed true to his tribe

In the interests of Public Relations he befriended who he thought were the locals.

He got a route plan organised for you guys

And he had it transferred to a paper map for the group

Did he tell you about all the good things he did.......... probably not :(

I know he did all that .............. that was my scribble on his map :D ,
So I rest my defense on behalf of the defendant Rueben

Did you follow any of it ???

We did and had a ball !!!

BTW, Thanks to the VP 4WD club for the route track info - they did it last week, I got it from one of their members

Chrs_stoffa, for the defence of JBird, I think you have taken it the wrong way. It reads that Husky did no damage to his ute as far as he knows.

For the record chris-stoffa, I wasn't late, I turned up on time then just had to do a maccas run for brekky lol.

Yes Rueben informed us of his endeavours with the locals, and no, we didn't end up taking that route (maybe one track I think), we just decided to wing it and it turned out ok.

On the topic of defecting to a different tribe, it wouldn't happen: Ranger & BT50 owners are loyal to their last breath, and if they weren't we'd force them into selling their vehicles and then disown them leaving them out in the cold :D

Definitely had fun Dave :D

It's funny, I was saying to the other boys on the day how surprised I was by the lack of other forbies we'd seen; maybe we were just in the wrong place lol.

G,day Dave,
Yes it was quite odd for all the 4wd and motor bike trailers we saw at the various car parks around Blackwood, hardly passed another vehicle on the tracks. As you would know weather was great with still enough mud to have a bit of fun and a day out.
