D'Aguilar Range "A Break"

Unread post by Ralic » September 8th, 2014, 10:05 am

Hey all,

Went up here on Saturday, had perfect weather and stunning views.

Refer to http://www.nprsr.qld.gov.au/parks/daguilar/ for Park information.
Map: http://www.nprsr.qld.gov.au/parks/dagui ... il-map.pdf

The tracks are in good condition, a little slow going in some of the medium parts. Rivers were fairly empty and not flowing over. The "A break" track was fun. Certainly needs to be done in low range for the first two hills. The second steep hill you encounter is the worst part. The first section (base) of the hill has been fairly dug up, most likely due to 4wd not letting down tyre pressure and just tearing up the track when they bounce around and not choosing a good drive line (got this all on film with the go pro).

Very dusty up there, All in all a lot of fun! :)

A few pictures to view; Sorry about links, didn't want to re-size the images.

Note: The Neurum Bush Retreat looked like a really nice place to setup camp. It would be a great location to start day trips from to really explore the area. (my opinion of course)

Unfortunately we have been locked out of the best tracks in here.

Did you see that camp Archer? Its at the Northern End. Theres about half a dozen sites with BBQ plates and drop toilets. The site run along a crystal clear creek which would be good for swimming once it warns up a bit.

yes, we drove into each camp site to have a look. From memory Camp Archer had full working toilets and about 20000 mossie nesting in there waiting for their next victim :)

We did notice a house/property located just on the other side of that creek as we where leaving. I thought it was strange having a camp site so close to it.
