Yes, the new permit system is in so I guess it may help with keeping the bad elements out. ... -system-2/

Dearer than Stockton, but it does include camping . . . $33 for a weekend permit, $44 for a monthly permit and $88 for a yearly pass.

The story from early 2015 in the local Herald newspaper below, but prices significantly increased since that was written. ... ead-beach/

I come from there and have been driving on Blacksmiths for nearly 50 years - (either down beach road or access via the back of the Belmont sports ground) when i get up there I still (or did) go for the occasional drive. It will essentially cost me $33 a go just to drive down there so it is no longer worth it.

Yes there were always a few yobs but mainly fishers and families - I think it is more of a money grab than trying to save or protect anything.

The annual pass cost is not too bad if you go there all the time but the other prices are just money grabs.
