Thanks guys, the plan at this stage is to be right at the top north of grafton at the Sandon site, I have been to Minnie waters and the camping is great but theres a chronic fly problem.

I spent a couple of very relaxing days at Pebbly last week. For the first day and a half I had the place entirely to myself.

A very nice spot.

Cheers

A question for the Pebbly Beach regulars.

Is the paystation at Station Creek campground for Pebbly as well?

When I first went there I headed straight to Pebbly and didn't discover the paystation until the next day.

Both the website and pamphlets seem a bit confusing as to whether you need to pay with the envelopes in the drop box or whether the ranger will collect payment.

Cheers

^^

That seems to be the go.. We stayed at Illaroo a few months ago which is a K from Minnie Water, must have timed it well as there were no flies.. and it was good up there, found a nice track back to Pebbly, didn't cross the creek as it was high tide..

There is nothing saying you have to pay there if you're going to Pebbly. Rob comes and collects fees most days especially over the holidays.

I jsut did 3 days at pebley beach and 3 more at sandon, and while I love pebbley and the 4wding and the crossing, but the fishing wasnt up to scratch like at sandon.

it was good that the tide was low, I managed to get across at high tide without any worry. The campsite was really nice and the free wood was better then sandon.

But the people were nicer at sandon and we cought some serious flathead. so this trip goes to Sandon.

To get to sandon Roger - did you head back out to Grafton or take the bush track up to Wooli? Rob the ranger was telling me about a track that heads north from Pebbly and will come out and Wooli but since said you would need a winch to be safe. Since I had a van attached and were on our own we didn't even think about it. We skipped by Minnie water, sandon and wooli and went straight through to pebbly and absolutely loved it - however next time I think we will do Sandon etc.

There used to be a track from Pebbly heading north along the coast to Wooli but not only is it a closed and gated off track with motion cameras, but it also takes you to the wrong side of a mighty big river. Head west till you find coast range road, it takes you through to the Wooli road and crosses the river where it's only a puddle. Once on Wooli road it's easy to find Candole forest road that will take you to Brooms head road.

Thanks Corindi - I'm guessing from the name you are from Corindi Beach? Thanks for the tip - will look for it next time I'm down there. Such an amazing part of the world you live in - I am very jealous
