I left the lake happy that I now can tick another bird of my list ,seeing something for the first time that you have never seen before in person does that to you just like the first time you stand up on top of Big Red looking out at the Simpson or the first time you drive up to see Ayres Rock , it makes you feel great that I brought a four wheel drive so you can see such wonderful thing that mother nature has made.
I had to start going if I wanted to get to our next campsite , so the only stop we made after leaving the lake was for a very late lunch on the banks of the Lachlan River in Condobolin. Then it was off to Forbes where we then turned onto the Escort Way to Eugowra & from here it is only another 11kms to Nangar National Park & the Terarra Creek camping area . I have camped here before but there wasn't as many camper as now , it's near full with people camping further up the valley out of the designated camp area. We did our lap of the camp area as you do to find the best spot but there was only one spot left that had a fireplace so that was ours . We had to have a fire for our last nights camp so we could have a toast to our wonderful trip away with a bottle of wine & a BBQ.

The next morning we packed up for the last time then drove up to show Peta Weeping Rock , there is also a drive that takes you to the top of the mountain to an excellent lookout that I have seen the Peregrine Falcon at but we where out of time & it was time to go home.

We then drove to Lithgow stopping for lunch then down the very scenic Bells Line Of Road as always to North Richmond BP where our trip started 4 weeks ago to fuel up for back at work tomorrow.

Just a few things about my trip that you maybe interested in . First thing I forgot to trip the odometer at the start of the trip but we did around 7000kms . It is about 2000kms just to Birdsville from Sydney.
Second our trip cost us a total of $4778:08 for two adults & this was everything from our first shop to stock the camper & supplies along the road to all fuel & gas , camping fees & the train ride , the entrance fee to the races & the times we dined out at the pubs & roadhouses. The only things that wasn't included was what we bet at the races & souvenirs .
We had not one flat tyre as we were adjusting our tyres to suit the conditions of the roads .
The car went without any problems except the snorkel screws holding it to the car vibrated out but they were quickly replaced . We put this down to the excellent job that Macquarie 4wd Centre did servicing the car before we left & also having a proven reliable setup by testing on a lot of smaller trips. Another thing whenever Peta got out to open a gate as there was some she routinely had a quick check as I drove by.
As for the camper after sorting out the frig that had been serviced & checked before we left for the loose purge valve line we only had little things like the odd pop rivet break or a screw coming loose on the spring that helps lift the stove & sink up but was never a problem & yeh we still got dust in the van , I think it's coming from the hinge that holds the top & the bottom of the camper .
Another thing about this trip was the time we spent doing it , we were never rushed . Besides from Innamincka where we have all been before & we would have loved to stay longer but we had to stay focused on the trip we planned which was to the races. I believe if you stay focused on the trip you originally planed on & spend the time doing it proper is better than trying to do everything quickly & not getting the best of it. The other place is Menindee Lakes you can stay here for weeks & not get bored with it & yes we would have loved to stayed longer at Willandra but when you get to a place as good as that you never want to leave in a hurry.
My biggest regret on the trip was not driving the 12kms one way to see the geographical centre of Australia The Lamberts Centre.
Well I hope you enjoyed reading my epic trip as it was definitely an epic task to post it up with the forum crashing so many times while trying to post it up. This was not written so much to show you where I went but to show you there is so much to see & do in the outback & to encourage you to get out there & travel & see Australia .
Cheers TLC60S

Hi storko
That's sound like a top trip mate . You will have to post it up when you get back cause I would love to see it so take plenty of photos.
Remember if your crossing over the border using the Barrier HWY don't stock up on your fruit & veges or you will loose them at the quarantine station , stock up at Hawker.
Remember to adjust your tyres in the Flinders , it's a beautiful place but a lot of the tracks are covered with sharp rocks .
When you go for a swim at Dalhousie get in before the sun comes up & watch the sunrise , then all the birds come for a drink.
There are 3 ways you can go through Sturt national Park, the main road through the middle but that's boring . The other 2 ways are Middle Road passing Olive Downs camp ground which heads towards Tibooburra or head towards Depot Glen & that brings you out at Milparinka.
Enjoy your trip mate Cheers TLC60S
