Tuning emergency frequencies on GME UHF

Unread post by Lutey » May 7th, 2011, 9:17 am

Hi, well i did a search, but as per usual, it came up blank. Soooooo.
I just recieved my shiney new GME TX3440 from prestige communications yesterday (i dont mind giving them a plug, they are cheap, quick service, aussie company). My question has anyone successfully tuned there recieve only channels into the police channels, and rfs, or any other stuff. But they are the 2 i am particularly interested in.

The police and fire are on a much different frequency, down here in Vic the fire is on about 161 hz, the police are encrypted digital, however SES is on about 468.5 to 468.75 so I programmed them in as channels 41-44, see if your local ses is the same.... Note they tend to attand a lot of accidents so it gives you some idea of whats going on.

I know that i can receive the police from as far as Newcastle and across to Dubbo and back up to as far as the border inland and to Beenliegh on the edges of the gold coast. Here is a link to a PDF that lists a majority of the country police channels. To program the channels into them you will have to read the manual for it

I have a GME Tx3220, but no where in the small booklet does it talk about being able to program channels. So does that mean that my UHF does not support self-programming?

tania girl, thanks for the link, programing is no dramas, just needed the frequency.
Benny, without looking up the specs for your radio, i am guessing you are right. I think that is a fairly basic model isnt it??

been looking for a country vic list for a while if anyone has, based in Mildura here. I know the police up here use a trunked? system that transmits and recieves on different frequencies but hav been unable to find any others. I have the NSW police in already that covers Albury to Broken Hill.
Also do you still get the ability to program the receive only frequencies on the 80ch units

Hi All,

To add the extra user channels in to the gme radio, you will need to find some with a programming software and cable. Quickest and easiest way.
