I don't know much about Triton's but I reckon you'll need a 2 inch lift to fit 33's. Are you sure you want a positive offset? A positive will give you a skinnier wheel track (tyres will be closer to the chassis). A negative offset will give you a wider track (tyres will be further away from the chassis). With a negative offset you'll run more risk that the tyres will rub the guards with out a lift. With a positive offset, that size tyre, I reckon they'll rub on the chassis especially the front when turning.

hope this helps.

the problem with wide tyres on a positive offset rim is that they are more likely to scrub on the suspension components or chassis.....going to a negative offset may put them outside the guards, and cause them to rub on the bodywork, but this is far easier to fix....

and is the +18 rim the factory offering?? or are you looking at buying these rims to suit the tyres??

Ditto, do you want a wider or skinnier wheel track?

Yeah sure im a little mixed up, never the less the rims i want to run come as........ 0 offset positive 18 , 30 offset...... im wondering if they'd work with a 12 1/2 inch wide 33inch tall tyre on a mk triton?

the 0 offset rims give you the widest track, and the most amount of clearance between the tyre and the suspension components....

even then, it would not surprise me if the 33x12.5s still did not fit properly.....

Thanks guys for your advice im not sure that the rims i was hope'n to run are made for real offroad applications? Ive since found out that back space is a better yardstick then offset when trying to decied on what rim/tyre combo will fit what!

What is the wheel track for a standard mk triton because I'm running 33/10.5/r15 and have to get it modplated so I need to find out the wheel track

Hi,

I borrowed a set of 33/12.5/16 with 0 offset to see how they would go on my MK Triton, but they rubbed on the body unless the wheels were dead straight.

So even with 0 offset you are going to have some issues.

Ok short answer is no you cant run 33x12.5R15s with +18 rims.

the correct answer to the question you were actually implying is that yes you can run 33x12.5R15s on an mk triton, but it depends on what model exactly that you have as to just how much work is needed to make them fit.

If you have a pov pack low spec model which came from the factory graced with 205R16 size, then your gonna need to do sus and at least a 2 inch body lift. But if you have one of the models which came factory spec with larger rubber than only a 2 inch lift may be needed for the 33x12.5R15s.

Rim offset confusion: the word negative or the - symbol means "wider" wheel track, where a plus or the + symbol means your stepping the rim offset inwards towards the centerline of the vehicle, narrowing your wheel track.

My own mk is the 02 delux model v6. It came stock with 265x70R16, which in the real world means I can run 265x75r16's with no hassles at all and need no additional lift to do it. With careful selection of rim offset I can also run 285x75R16's without scrubbing, but only with brands of tires that run under their stated size.

Even on my ute I will need a 2 inch body lift to be able to clear either 33x12.5R15s on rims of from 0 offset and up to neg 18 offset, or just to clear 32x11.5R15's on wide offset -24 or wider rims. The aditional wheel track of the wider rims is the major problem followed by the treads width itself.

now if you forget about running tires over 11 inches wide then the choices are much simplified. 33x10.5R15s can be run quite happily on my rig on any rim up to neg 18, despite being almost an actual inch larger in heigh compared to the wider 285x75r16s.
If your ute is a pov pack, and you stick within the neg 18 offset and tires under 11 inches wide its possible to get away with running the 33x10.5's using only a 2 inch lift- perhaps with a torsion bar tweak thrown in.

For anything wider, in either tread width or rim offset, you will almost certainly need 2-3 inches of body lift, and sus lift too.

cheers
