Residual casting sand in water jackets ?

You might see some grains of sand in the coolant when you first crack the radiator drain plug.

Hope this helps.

bump,

Taubdog, Im interested in wether you managed to fix the Hilux cooling problem. Was it the oil cooler behind the oil filter after all that ??

SimHilux

How can an overheating problem be the result of an engine oil cooler?

Does the vehicle have bigger tyres?
Although the injection timing marks are used to set the injection timing, are the marks really correct?
Although a new thermostat is fitted does it have the full size opening and does it really open fully at the stated temp? Many things to check before doing others.
Always double check the simple things first.
