Anyone using KYB Scorched Shocks?

Unread post by traalek » June 20th, 2004, 3:14 pm

hey guys

anyone had any experience with KYB shocks? they are gas and come with a 3yr warranty. I think they are made in WA (where i am from). I'm getting a lift and the dude is fitting lovell springs (bout 45-50mm lift) and told me to go with these rather than XGS. They are also relatively cheap (bout 450 for all four)

They are a cheap shock and will not perform very well at all or last long under adverse conditions e.g. heavy corrugations. The last time I checked I was told they were made in Brazil, but that may have changed by now. My advice? Pay the extra to get a set of quality shocks to complement your Lovell springs - false economy never works in the longrun.

KYB Skorched shocks

Unread post by 80? » December 14th, 2009, 12:37 pm

On an 80 series. Any opinions or experiences would be appreciated. I am able to get a really, really good deal, we are talking half retail. Also Lovell 2 inch springs to match, what do you think.

Haven't heard of the Skorched range. However, KYB are typically a lower-end shock. What is the RRP on these?

OEM on a lot of Jap cars. Pretty small though, some of them look like sticks, even on 4wd's. Skorched is their heavier duty range for 4wd's
I love terra firma - the less firma the more terra

Still miles better than anything monroe or pedders IMHO. I'd put them on par with koni based on my experience with 4b's and rally cars.

Got them on our 80 series and find them really good. Great ride on the road and never let us down in the bush. Would recommend them and buy them again for sure. :thumb:

Mmmmmmm, does that mean you dont agree pog ? BTW if your paying more than $ 155 a corner for a damper your buying at the wrong place and getting ripped

Have you checked the price of Koni's lately?

cant say that I have, but I will check today if I get the chance, for something to do. The price is definitely no real indication of quality or performance when it comes to shocks though, as with everything I guess. Update later.

Last time I checked, they were about double the price of the KYB's you have quoted. Possibly more.

I agree price is no real indication. But it is a good guide.
