Obviously i know i can hit the dunes and 4wd to the beach to go fishing, is there anywhere in or around Perth where i can jump on a bush track to get to a river or similar for fishing?

I can only think of a few, and they wouldn't be too close to Perth

Hill River - north of Cervantes
Collie River - in Collie
Blackwood River - around Pemberton, Balingup etc

If you drive along the Murray near Dwellingup there is quite a few tracks leading down to the river and obviously the further away from town you get, the quieter it is and less used the tracks are. Also have a look around Boddington on google maps satellite imagery and you should be able to find a few leading to the Hotham River which is where I used to catch a heap of redfin when I was younger. Most of the area around town is farmland, but I'm sure it would pass through bushland at stages
