4WD Action Public Relations

Unread post by Tracey J » June 16th, 2010, 12:57 pm

The 4WDing community in Australia is under fire, we're suffering from track closures, attempts to ban modifications such as suspension lifts and bullbars and we're sick of it.
We need a public relations person to help us get the message out there, to the general public, the 4WDing masses and most importantly the politicians, that we won't take this lying down anymore.
We need someone to help us rally the troops, to get our message across in a way that will appeal to the media, the general public and the government, we have a lot of voices that need to be heard.
Our public relations person will be someone who can speak the same language as the politicians, who can coordinate our collective voices to make sure we are heard in the houses of parliament and across national media.
We need you to develop strategies that will illustrate the collective power of the massive number of 4WD enthusiasts in Australia, harness that power and have it work to our advantage.
The PR specialist will report to our brand manager and work side-by-side with a dedicated researcher who will keep abreast of all the issues affecting 4WDers today.
The position will be based in our Sydney offices at Silverwater.
If you think you've got what it takes to take this fight to the masses send your cover letter and CV to jobs@4wdaction.com.au

Very tempted to apply for this.....would be a great challenge and potentially rewarding. Crusading for the down-trodden and under appreciated minority that is...... the 4WD community!

We pay taxes, we spend $$ in towns that are way off the beaten tracks, we organise and co-ordinate clean-up days and we carry out rubbish that often isn't our own! So why should we have to put up with the rubbish that is thrown at us through government policy, that has had little or no input from those that are at the coal-face of this recreational activity? Show me a body that decides an issue without all the facts and I'll show you a waste of time, effort and tax-payers money!!!! (crowd roars and cheers approval, haaaaarr...)

Sorry just thought I'd try it on for size. :D
Good luck to whomever gets this one. :thumb:

Bullbars

Unread post by Timber » June 17th, 2010, 1:32 am

G'Day Tracey

How about getting someone to send letters to the stations across Australia regarding what is happening or being addressed regard ing Bullbars. You could format a petition, or letter about this, and send it out. The support for a fight against banning bullbars would be 100% in the bush.

Just a thought.
The bush has one advantage over the city...It aint the city.

I think this job would be a bloody hard one to do, not losing your temper with their attitudes & closed mindedness, replying in the same, if not better, language as them, letting them lose their temper whilst you remain cool calm & collected, etc, etc.
How would this work within the magazine? :thumb::thumb:

Well it appears that scarecrow2's submission has been the best so far, that post may as well have been an application for the job!

On a serious note though, is this a preexisting job or a new position to deal with the various issues that we as responsible 4WD-ers have to put up with from disconnected men and women in suits?

I have a CV prepared but none of it is relevant PR. I'm glad that the problem has been recognised and action is being taken because it is all too frustrating listening to so many stories of track closures and necessary modifications/accessories being made illegal.

I deal with the greenies regularly in my line of work as they are always telling us we can't go somewhere, we can't dig a hole there, all the usual stuff. We always find a way to subdue them though, some of them are actually reasonable people believe it or not!!

Here's a direct copy from the About this Section sticky on the top of the section index, you know, one of the threads you should read before you look at the rest! ;)
About this section

From time to time we find ourselves looking for new people to join our team here at 4WD Action.

This will be the place to come to see who we are looking for.

We'll start a thread for each new position where you can ask some questions and we'll answer as best we can - knowing what the most commonly asked question will be I'll pre-empt it by saying - we wont discuss $ until the interview stage. If you think you are suitable for any of the advertised positions please apply and we'll go from there.

Once a position has been filled the thread will be closed.

Cheers,
