4WD Action Researcher

Unread post by Tracey J » June 16th, 2010, 12:52 pm

Here at 4WD Action we're looking for a 4WDing enthusiast to work fulltime researching everything and anything that is affecting 4WD owners today.
From track closures to bullbars to modifications, we need to know who, why and where the powers that be are conspiring to make our hobby harder to participate in.
It seems every week we are fighting a new battle, be it the closure of public lands to 4WDs, or someone telling us we can't lift our trucks or fit a bullbar, there are so many fronts to this battle that we need a fulltime researcher to keep track of what's going on so we know where to send the troops.
We need someone to keep their finger on the 4WDing pulse of Australia, across every state and territory and with the know-how to dig up any information on plans our governments might have to further derail our pastime.
The researcher will report to our brand manager and work side-by-side with a public relations specialist to get the word out to the 4WDing masses, the general public and politicians that we mean business and we won't take this lying down.
The role will be based in our Sydney office in Silverwater. If you have the passion and drive and the research skills to fill this role please email a cover letter and your CV to jobs@4wdaction.com.au

Hi Tracey
Is it essential that this role be based in Sydney? You may be limiting yourselves to the number of people who can actually apply. Would you be interested in someone who is a passionate 4WDer, has previously worked for the Department for Environment and Heritage and Local Government and who has sat on various state committees so knows how political environments work and who also has a number of contacts who could assist with research and possibly getting through the right channels but lives in South Australia?

Hi Greg,

At this stage we need the person to be based in our offices here, the owner of the company as well as Glenn, the publisher will want regular face to face meetings, when I say regular I mean one or more a day sometimes. The Researcher will also be working in conjunction with the PR rep we are hiring, they are hand-in-hand roles and so need to be here together.

This could be a bit much for one person Australia wide I would think. If you had regional/state people it would probably work better as I think there's a hell of a lot in say, the East Coast & South Coast areas alone.
Bloody good to see it being done but :D

Hi Tracey,

Just wondering when applications for the position close and if it is advertised anywhere else that provides an elaborated job description and selection criteria?

Cheers,
Sean

G'Day Sean,
It's pretty open ended, we'll keep aplications open until we find the right person.
The same job will also be advertised on seek.com.au but it won't differ from what you see here.
