84 single cab hilux petrol tub ute. came with rust, arb bar and rear step, tape player, awesome 3 core radiator and 200 00kms on the clock. added 235/85 bfg muds, lpg, toolbox, cd player, uhf, nasty cheap driving lights and good seat covers. stolen once, used in a ram raid on a mower shop. rolled once (side only). broken into again, stereo, uhf, tools, first aid kit, big maglite and my grandfathers 12g cartridge belt taken. eventually had to go-family+welsh plug went. had about 280 on the clock I think. If it was a diesel I would never, ever, ever have sold it. Worst mod-lpg, could never tune it right for both. best mod-bfg's, zero flats/blowouts, last 60 00kms no worries if rotated and with chains would climb trees. pros-went everywhere except deep water, but then started after a dry out and kept going, cheap to run, light, easy to work on. cons-underpowered, no AC or power steering. photos later.
Vote 1 shooters and fishers.

88' Hilux Xtra Cab 2.4L D. 5spd, 4' inch Lift, extractors, 31' tyres, cheapo roo bar, roll bar with IPF spotties on top, never missed a beat brilliant car.

Moved onto a 03 Hilux (work ute) stock as with CB radion and Lightforce spotties. Hoping to upgrade to a new Lux soon.

Good old Hilux FTW!!

My first ute was a "70 XW Falcon. Welded diff and Auto trans behind which I fitted a three speed Manual box.
3 inch suspension lift;- Spacer blocks under the front springs and springover on the rear, with Valiant springs (flatter than Falc leaves)
15x8 rear with 31" BFG AT TA, and 16x5.5 Cusso wheels on front with 205r16s.
Diff was 4.1 (from nissan Pintara) and all made the ole' girl brilliant for crawling 'round the paddocks with the spotlight etc
'03 Mazda Bravo 2.5TD
'77 Leyland Terrier truck ... yes ... an actual truck
'80 Datsun 720 4X4 ute

First ute was a BA XL Falcon with a 5.4 v8. Had twin 3" exhaust, cai, tune, underdrives, Kaaz locker, 4.11 diff, 6 speed man with Ripshift, 4 pot Brembos, Tein adjustable suspension, -2 camber. Loved the twisty roads in it, had so much low down torque with the 3v motor. Was sad to get rid of her after all the time and money spent but I'm enjoying the new lux I replaced it with.

Future mods are hopefully

2 or 3 inch sup lift
front and rear locker
slide bars
and roll bar with lights

Nice, very nice. The old 720's were a beast ;)

My first ute was a DATSUN 720. 1984 i think it was, It has DATSUN badges all over it and DATSUN in massive shiny white
letters across the tailgate. Greast old ute and at the time a bloke in my bike club had one exactly the same. It was a 2.5L
diesel (i think) and it was slow, loud, a little smokey but it had some character. The rear was cramped but it was
reasonable offroad (for an old IFS). It rusted in a few spots but you couldn't kill it. I had it when i was young and stupid
and me and my mates would drive everywhere in it and cause trouble wherever we could ;) I traded it years and years ago to
get a 'car' but i had the 4wd bug so bought the Jeep a few years later. Here's some pics:

First ute was (and is) my much loved 2000 model Ford Courier, bought in 2001. 4x4 2600cc petrol (couldn't find a decent diesel one at the time).

Have just bought a Ford Ranger, and my poor old Courier is looking for a new home.........
