Water Sealing - what've you done on your BT50 Tailgate?

Unread post by jugglingogre » July 14th, 2014, 10:57 pm

Hi peeps

I've got a 2013 BT-50 and am setting her up as a tourer. One thing I have found is that the tailgate has a gap pointing at the ground that makes the grand canyon look small. I could just about park my DR650 in there....

How have others gone about closing up gaps in tub tailgates to help with reducing water ingress during deeper crossings? I'm taking her up to the cape soon and will have the fridge and a number of other things in back and would like to know that she will be able to withstand nolans and a few of the other deeper crossings without damage.

Cheers

Pete

Hi jugglingogre,

I have an 09 Ford Ranger XLT which has the tub liner as standard, all I did was went to a co. called Purple Pig who are rubber supply specialists and bought the appropriate style pinchweld and just slide it over the rear edge of the tub liner, when you close the tailgate it sits up against the rubber seal and "Bobs your uncle, didn't have balls he'd be your aunt" problem solved!!!
