Unread post by gqheapa » December 20th, 2010, 11:22 am

hi there guys and gals.
Just rebuilt the 20 year old box trailer; got it blue slipped today hope to rego it tomorrow, I'lli pick up a 12ft tent this week and so far the whole set up will be under $1000 so I'm cheering. Will post some picks of my budget set up asap. First trip will be after Christmas to buckendera. Cant wait.

Sounds like your building yourself a good little starter mate. Good on ya. At the end of the day if it keeps you dry and gets you away from the rat race, that's what it's about.

Its amazing that each time you go camping, you'll want to do a little tinkering with it and maybe a couple of extras and before you know it you'll have it exactly the way you want it.

My in laws done a slimilar thing with their 6x4 box trailer late last year. They had owned the trailer for a number of years and decided they wanted a camper trailer, so did a little research and found that rather then spending upwards of over $5000 on a bottom end 4x4 camper trailer they went and bought a camper trailer tent from a place up in Belmont, I think they were called 5 star campers. The tent cost him $1500. The only mod he did to the trailer was an extension to the draw bar. The tent now sleeps or would sleep about 6 people comfortably. They even scored a free mobile camping kitchen to go with it. Will get a few photos of it next time he has it out and up.

I am now seriously looking at getting myself a cheap 6x4 or 7x4 box trailer and doing the same thing with it before July, which is when we are headed up to Fraser Island.

I am doing the exact same thing with my 7x4 this weekend after 12 months researching and postponing the inevitable
Has just been sand-blasted (picked it up yesterday) and I will be painting it in Hammertec tomorrow.
Tent goes on after that and then it's the kitchen. Pretty basic unit but it will keep us protected, sleep the whole family and I don't really want any more than that :waycool:

Well done on your rebuild

That is just wrong, I hope you get it back, did you have time to insure it, or is it covered by the house insurance.?

Hi, just wondering when it was actually stolen? From the date it appears it was April 17th - 6 months ago.
