That plate looks heavily pitted, I wouldn't use it :( Although it will probably still do the job.

Yeah i'm getting it sand blasted tomorrow so that'll show its true colours, its 8mm plate though so i don't think i'll have any probs with it. Considering how little I've spent so far, i ain't complaining.

Only prob now is how to do the wings without it lookin crap. As a whole though its gonna serve its purpose and for a damn sight cheaper then a commericial bar or custom. Plus i can say i designed and semi built it. Maybe one day when i have oodles of money to spend i'll splurge.

8mm is too heavy & not required really. 5mm with correct bracing is more than enough but if 8mm is what you had spare then free 8mm plate is better than buying 5mm.;) Just keep in mind weight. If you go over 40-45kg then it is too heavy.

well yeah, it was free, just sitting around in the shed so i thought it'll do. Its not that bad to lift so i doubt it'll be at the 40kg mark yet. Got the upgraded springs in the front and i dunno if i'll need them yet. Will have to do have a look and see how it goes.

Well its back from the welders and I've decided to get it powder coated in hammertone antique dark silver? or something like that. Added the brackets on for the spotlights, and was just sortin out the rear bracket to go onto the front crossmember with the mig ran outta wire :( Gonna rip the arc out and keep goin with that. So far so good, just still can't work out the tube bits, and gotta fit my body lift soon to for winch clutch handle clearance.

Total cost so far, $150

Oh and i had a tetanus shot not long ago, i have a habit of coppin injuries lol. Oh brendan, can you drop my battery around one of these days :) Maybe next weekend, say after work? and bring your jack. Might chuck the body blocks in
