the big ad at the top bugs me to no end

Unread post by solidute » September 14th, 2012, 9:21 am

everytime i open a page i click on, well anything that grabs my eye, but due to the lag in the ad opening up i usually click on the ad instead of what i wanted. can this ad be removed or relocated to a side? where it wont interfere with the forum?

I'm not a fan of those pop up ads on the sides either. What have asian girls to do with 4wding? lol

Yep, same here.

Easily fixed by the web admin by setting a fixed height for the element with the add in it.

Unless having everyone click it on is the intention... it sure would bump up the click rate for ads (and thus, revenue)

Well it would be OK if I could login in firefox - but I can't - get the error wrong username - which is hysterical cos it's the only username I've ever used.

Gotta love security settings :)

Must have clicked on the wrong thing a hundred times exactly the same way you have. I don't mind the ads, but have the stupid things a set size so the page loads correctly without suddenly jumping down half a foot and making you click on something you didn't intend.
Looks like adblocker software is becoming a must.

thought admin might have had a reply by now? or at least fixed it without replying

that said the no script add on for firefox works but means every website i visit i need to adjust the settings to use various options ie: facebook wouldnt let me use any drop menus or click on notifications.

i guess ill have to slow down my 4wda forum usage and not be in a hurry, which will be a tad hard as i dont get as much time to browse these days

I'd hope maybe something might be said by an admin. I don't expect it but it'd be worth their while to make it less annoying because the alternative is people installing add blocking in their browser, which directly effects the financials of running a web site.

what settings are you refering too ?
also noscript you can see all the things it would load without it... JUNK
Firefox is my browser of choice, but I can't login to 4wda forum in firefox - tells me I am using the wrong logins  I'm guessing at some stage I've entered the wrong u/n or p/w and it's cached it, although I regularly clear the cache. I don't really know, I'm not too worried, I have an acceptable alternative.

I won't use IE, hate it with a vengeance so I'm using chrome to browse the forum and it annoys me, just not as much as IE.

I usually go straight to the new posts link which sits just below the ad. So more often than not I hit the ad when it does it's magic appearing act.
Will try an ad blocker and see how it goes.

Cheers,
