Thanks Dan,

Great photos and action shots people looking in here will appreciate them.

Some commentary on which tyres worked best on the trip and whether any products you all took along proved useful.

We had all sorts of tyres (brands sizes etc) & noone had problems. I'm happy with the km2 on the 80 35's but they are terriable on the Hilux
Maxtrax worked a treat
Fuel consumption for the hole trip range from 12.7lts/100kms (Hilux) to 22ltrs/100kms on my 6ltr 80
Most cars averaged between 14-18ltrs/100kms
Will post up a ful trip report when my wife finishes it may need to put a link to it
We had diesel cars
petrol cars
petrol / gas cars
Camper trailer
So we can comment on all types of conditions etc
Cheers Dan

Wow love the Photo's - especially where the car's are cresting the sand dunes.
By the looks of the tracks you were the first to traverse them, can you tell us what Desert tracks you used, also some title for each photo :-)

We done the Painted Desert to Oodnadatta then Mt Dare Dalhalsie Springs to Purri Bore French Line to the Rig Rd onto the Waa Line to the end back tracked 35kms as we couldn't get past the salt lake at the end onto the Erribinna trk (spelling) to the French Line then back to Dalhalsie Srings onto the Oodnadatta Trk
The WAA line was very slow going & alot harder than the French Line (2wd for the most part)
The last section of the WAA line had no defined track to fallow at all we used the GPS & our nose to get through as only every few dunes had a bit of a track to see.
From our trip I would say it is heaps harder going from West to East. We had 11 cars on the trip & found camping no problems at all
Our clubs next trip is too the snow (bring on Winter)

Never get sick of looking at simpson trip photo's.
Judging by the water in the lakes, crossing later in the year if possible, will be interesting.

Great photos, beautiful countryside.

Whats the story re: sand flags, seems only a couple of guys in your group bothered with them.

We are planning a Simpson Trip for later this year and the first thing on my list is to buy a sand flag.

Travis.

Sand flags aren't compulsery to have. We had 2 UHF monitering all channels incase there were others out there. But we were the first in & evryone behind us followed our tracks as when we got back to the rig rd all tracks had vered off
