current model fuel consumption

Unread post by shanejohnson » January 28th, 2012, 2:49 pm

hi to all. New to the forum i am purchasing a grand vitara 5 door shortly after much research. I wont be towing anything heavy, will be used as a family car and light off roading. I have not decided on the 2.4 or the 3.2 V6 . If i chose the 4 cylinder the dilema of auto vs manual comes into it. The auto with the 4 cylinder is $2000 more tows a bit less and uses more fuel, and have read is not the best auto around. So would really appreciate some real world economy figures from fellow members of the cuurent model reguardless of the engine transmission you have. Shano

The Mrs has a 2.7l V6 (2008 model). If you baby it on the freeway at 100 - 110kph you can use 10.0L/hundred.
If you drive it like you stole it then it can go to 15.5L/100km.

I'd go the V6... I'd be a bit worried the 4 would struggle with a full load.
The new V6 will probably use less than mine does... the 2.7 is an old engine.

i have a 2010 2.4 auto with arb winch bar. with the cruse set at 135kph it uses on average 11.5 l per 100km
but in the right conditions gets down to 10.5l per 100

towing my boat at 130kph it uses around 14l per 100
