2010 Grand Vitara Prestige 3.2L

Unread post by marty_leash » July 21st, 2011, 3:15 am

G'day guys, I'm after opinions from people with experience and enthusiasm for the specific vehicle in question.

I'm looking at buying a 2010 Grand Vitara Prestige with 10000km.
It has leather, sunroof, cruise and ticks all the other boxes.
It is the 3.2L V6 version and goes really well.

I've got the salesman down to $32000 with a $3000 trade in, so a $29000 change over.
New price was $40490
I was thinking $31000 with $4000 trade would be better. Either that or $30000 no trade.

So I guess I want your honest opinions....
Would this be a good buy?

Also, are there any known issues with this model?

Cheers Marty and family

Im not 100% on the presteige pricing but i got the 2011 turbo diesel new with arb winchbar, tinted windows and tow pack through a fleet buying company for $34800 a couple of weeks ago. I know the prestige has a heap more luxury stuff but it may be a consideration and give you an idea of how far they can move on new pricing if pushed hard enough.

I havent had mine long enough to really find any big problems other than that the stock tyres suck and the towbar sticks out too far for good clearance but no suprises there.

You scored a good deal mate. The Prestige V6 is $40490 or so new. I managed to get them down from $35990 to $32990 with a trade in of $3990. The trade in was only worth $3000 max so I am happy enough with that. This car is mainly for my wife as I have a Suzuki Jimny which I really enjoy torturing offroad regularly. Ours doesn't have a tow bar fitted but I have seen one with the factory bar and it does stick down a long way, shite design really.
I'm thinking I'll have to sneak in a few mods and 4wd trips in the future ;)

I have the 2.7 prestige so have 3.2 and xenon headlight envy.

I think they are great cars no issues with our just lately the ECS light intermitately comes on.

We bought our new 3.5 years ago and have put 85000ks but none off road :(

I just wanted leather, sunroof and auto, but if I was buying now I would seriously look at the turbo diesel (and for me probably a manual as the auto in the v6 isn't that crash hot).

Don't buy suzuki nudge bar, piece of garbage.

I'm shocked to find my thread so far up the list.

A question with respect to the above mentioned vehicle. I have had no problems with the GV so far but have and issue that is a slight concern. The front left wheel is out of alignment by -1.00 camber. I need a camber adjustment bolt to rectify this.
What size are the lower strut bolts on a 2010 GV V6? 12 or 14mm?
