GV no go... after fitting a CB! Any Ideas? What've I missed?

Unread post by kevthekiwi » March 22nd, 2014, 2:38 am

I have a 99 GV.. 2.5 V6. went to fit a CB. and after that it wont start..
Checked all the fuses. all good. when hit the key,, I can hear a soloniod clicking.. but wont engage the starter
Charched the battery. and everything else works fine
Have pulled the inhibitor of the auto. tests out ok....
this has really got me stumped. its been down for 2 days, and we just cant find anything at all.
The only thing that doesn't go,, is the interior lights. mayebe I have missed a fuse......
Any ideas????????????????

Yes.. finally did.. we had manuals. wiring diagrams. testers. you name it we tried everything.
Sitting in the car, scratching our heads.
And you wont believe this.
Put the fuse in the interior light.. and away she went.
Hows that for trap for old players.

That sucks...might be connected to the alarm and security system or some safely system so you can only start it with the door shut or something.

Still, I wouldn't have thought to do it, and if that fuse blew you probably wouldn't think of it as a show stopper. How many Kingswoods have no interior light ey.

That's out there!

I wonder if it's something peculiar to your vehicle that has been installed - like Jimmy said?

We had some wizard here after we had fixed it...
He said some of the early Falcons are the same.
Wont start if the interior light isn't going...
Its a weird one allright.
