XL7 Owners, Does your Rear Air-con also heat the car or is it a lame way of saying its a rear mounted fan only for cooling ?

bit late i suppose but better late than never for some one else maybe!
my parents had a 2000 model that was only a cooling fan

My wife and i have just purchased our XL7 - and this heats AND cools the rear.
2004 model - so i'd say that the "newer" style (second generation) heats and cools where as the first generations does not?

Lil monster, the rear A/C unit is for cooling only - it has a compressed refrigerant line running to the rear and the cooling unit itself is mounted in the roof. The fan unit is in the rear boot area behind the trim.

You need to have the front aircon operating and turn the rear unit's fan on for it to cool. You can have the rear fan only on and it will recirculate air without it being cooled. There is no heating function.

PS: I don't think there is any funtionality difference between the early or late model XL-7's. We've got a 2004.
