E-lockers for RG Colorado released

Unread post by gubarb » September 17th, 2013, 6:59 pm

Just thought some RG owners might be interested to know I contacted Harrop Engineering last week and the E-lockers for the RG are now available, $1600 and something. Not sure if I will get one. I would prefer an auto but they only do the E-locker at the moment.

You actually got a response? I have sent 3 emails to them and they have not bothered to answer at all. I will stay away from buying anything supplied by them even though the company has a reputation for having good stuff.

Nah they wont reply to emails, I had to call them. I was told we wont make a rear e-locker because there's a factory rear locker.

I was talking to a 4x4 store two weeks ago and he told me they were about to release an e-locker for the rear as they decided to develop it for the dmax. I said to him to call me when it was ready I may be interested.

The are only doing a front and they didn't give me a reason for that.
Yep they don't answer there emails I had to ring to get the info and your right there customer service is not good.
I'm petty sure the rear diff is the same as a GM 10 bolt 8.6 and there's a fair few lockers for them.

The RG has the AAM760 in the front and AAM860 in rear, not sure what's in the RC.

Would that mean an e-locker which is suitable for the AAM860 diff (which I believe goes into the H3 hummer) would go into the rear of the RG colorado?

Eaton in the U.S. have this:

Hummer H3 Rear 03 + GM 10 Bolt (8.6") 30 2.73 + 19659-010

$800US

Yeah that's right that's the part number I came up with. The only thing I can see that's different with ours is the US ones have a rear cover where ours don't.
I think I'll take a punt and order one $856 delivered from Summit racing.

If a US diff has a rear cover then it is a "salisbury" diff and not a Banjo housing type diff.
The Diffs may be totally different in the US to what we see here.
If it has the cover and yours doesn't, then I would think the carrier and internals are also different.
Maybe a bit more checking before you throw $$$$$$$$$$$$ at it.
See what info you can get from Summit before risking the cash.
Holden/GM alter anything at any time and pick and match to save money.
Check to see who makes your diff and who makes the one with the cover. Spline numbers is always good to know. They might also have different spline sizes and number of splines.

Yeah i've done a fair bit of checking and AAM is the manufacturer for GM diffs and if you have a look at ARB they do a diff lock for the RG Colorado and it's the same part number as the 10 bolt GM 8.6 30 spline.
