New Mu-7 - What you think?

Unread post by Sir Snagger » March 11th, 2010, 11:39 am

Hi all. Just thought I'd post up this topic for a bit of time wasting. Released so far in Thailand (maybe Indonesia?) but not here yet. The new MU-7. It is based on the D-Max chassis and styling, but instead of a tray, they've continued the body back to form a wagon. IFS front and leaf spring rear and only available with a 3.0L DOHC deisel engine with 4X2 or 4X4 models to choose from. Image

The D pillar is a little funny but other than that I like it. Should be a good thing!

Yeah - I reckon it would be a good move. something different and still capable (when compared to any other IFS model I suppose - just look at the D-Max's success). Pretty speccy too.

i agree with all of above, the back D pillar a tad weird. the tailgate looks like it bulges out as well.
actually looks like a Kia/Daewoo sort of thing there

I wonder if they get the same fuel economy and power, etc that Isuzu are getting out of the D-max. If so they would probably be popular with families. compete with the AWD market that the territory and captiva seem to have grabbed maybe?

Ya reckon? I don't know how much the new D-max's are off the top of my head but seemingly they are the same car (even body) just they've continued it into a wagon instead of a ute. I'd stagger a guess at maybe an extra 5-10K on top of the D-Max? But when you copare it to a lot of other cars out there, the terrirory's start at about $35k, captiva's are about the same I think, most toyota and nissan 4wd's are in excess of $50K easily now. All those start going up when you go adding on extra's too. Wouldn't be too over priced to be competitive from that point of view (assuming I've guessed prices right)

I'm gonna take a review on the price claims there. Just bought a dual cab D-Max myself and it's valued at $47000. So in excess of $45000 would probs be right on the money

The front looks quite nice, but not a fan of the back!

It would be good if they put a coil rear end on it since its a people carrier, not a load carrier. Plus it would give the hardcore boys an easy coil rear swap.

rear pillar doesn't match the rest of the truck but on the whole i like it, coil rear would be nice :)
