new dmax, where to mount accessories

Unread post by bravoboy300 » July 1st, 2014, 9:25 pm

Hi guys,
The fiancé and I have ordered a LSM dual cab and are picking it up Thursday (super excited). Where has everyone been mounting accessories like uhf and aux battery? Im thinking my uhf might fit in the top glove box..?
Gonna be a bit of a step up from the old mazda bravo, hopefully it serves us as well as the ol girl has..
Will upload some piccies when we pick it up.
Cheers.

G'day mate,
The oricom uhf300, uniden 7700 and gme tx3100 will all fit nicely in the little space to the left of the 12v jack in front of the gear lever. This is where i plan to mount mine, I am just awaiting on a bullbar first. As for aux battery, have a look at these ones: http://www.piranhaoffroad.com.au/produc ... make/isuzu
These questions and more have all had plenty of posts about them already.

Cheers,

Beau

Plenty of software programs for free to re-size them. Or open a photobucket account (its free) and it automatically re-sizes for you

The icom is good as it comes with the rj45 extension so you can plug in your handset wherever you like

G'day bravoboy300, long time no see. Welcome to the upgrade, hope you're enjoying it.

As for mounting accessories, I've found the best place to mount the bullbar is on the front, the towbar on the back, and missus in the passenger seat (I'll probably get shot for that one ;) )

I thought you would have a Jason Recliner in the tub for the missus! Nothing is too good eh.

I have just got my uhf and am looking at installing it. I do like the space between the cigarette lighter down the bottom.

Does anyone have any photos of their UHF installed there?

I have the GME TX3100 and it sits pretty nicely.

I am thinking perhaps I will pull some of the dash out so I can cut in behind it a bit so it will fit flush. What are peoples thoughts on this? Has anyone done this already?

Cheers

These are photos of my 2012 RG LTZ Holden Colorado

I moved my ESC button from down underneath the climate control up to here it is in the D-Max (purchased a D-Max switch for this conversion). I then installed my scanner in the pocket where the factory Holden ESC button was. Lots of room behind there too.
I sold my RG LTZ in October 2013 as it developed rust in the tray and I had nothing but grief with it from day one due to a shonky dealership.

For the UHF i opted for a remote slim line head unit GME TX3520 as I just personally prefer a head unit. Mounted Slim line head unit blow gear shifter. Hand Mic Left side next to top Glove Box. Ran wiring thru and under Shifter console to under tray of drivers for the speaker. I had to drill a hole in the backing of the tray for the Antenna wire and power which is powered so I can operate when the car is off. Also the Speaker is on a slide bracket provided with the GME Unit so it can be taken out to plug diagnostic cable in.

Made a bracket for the top of my bar to Bolt into the 2 Antenna tabs so i could bolt my x4 Leds plus my GME Antenna. Powdercoated 6mm plate....she does not move at all :) hope this helps champ :)

I have considered this location. Where did the main unit go? Where did you put your handpiece? Where did you get the power from?
