G'day Y'all

Just back from the annual hols. Unfortunately didn't get to do any offroading this trip. :-[ The family wanted to see the rel'ies in Mexico and go to the snow. ::)

Anyway you gotta do these things at times to keep in the good books. So I reckon I earned a few brownie points.

Did about 5300k's from Brissy to the Wimmera district on to Melbourne and up to Lake Mountain to see the white stuff. Got to admit that the kids had a ball and the love & kisses had a good time even if the walk to the top of Lake Mountain in the snow did just about knock her out.

On the way back I went for a drive around some forestry tracks in Marysville where I used to work as a teenager (long long long time ago). Thought I would get the truck dirty and get to use the little stick ;D. But Just when we got to where the good parts should start we found that the forestry had closed off the road as a work place - chopping down bloody trees!! >:(

Anyway, did a u bolt and turned off on another side track which I knew would lead me to some good 4wd'ing :D. Alas I didn't bring the chainsaw with me. Bloody trees across the track. They had had a bloody great storm a day or so before. >:( So did a six point u turn and headed back to Melbourne.

Went from Melbourne back to Warracknabeal in the Wimmera for a few days and picked up the camper trailer which we had left there and headed east to Khancoban where we stopped overnight. The kids went fishing but brought back yabbies instaed. ;D Yum Yum!!! Anyway seeing as we had no fish we went to the pub for dinner and the rainbow trout was delish ;D ;D

Headed to Jindabyne the next day via the Alpine Way enroute to Canberra. Got up above the snowline and the kids had to stop and have a snow fight on the side of the road. After a couple of days in Canberra we headed home via Narrabri.

With trailer and all our gear we grossed about 3.5 tonnes. Average fuel consumption was 12.736 lt/100k and average cost per litre was 85.137 cents. Dearest fuel we bought was 91.9 in Jerilderie. Cheapest of course was Brissy at 77.5 c. Saw diesel and ULP at over $1 per litre but stayed away from that.

Very happy with fuel consumption considering weight, cruising speed (100 - 120 kph) and some good mountain work. Truck went like a dream. Love that cruise control. :D

Didn't see many boys in blue which I thought was strange. ??? One thing that I thought was a bit stupid was the 50kph zones through most of the towns on the Newell Hwy and the country roads in Vic. ??? I mean, I don't mind that limit in back streets like, but on a main Hwy it's a bit over the top. Really slows up the traffic flow. Maybe it's all part of making some more state revenue to pay our pollies!!!! ::) And of course Victoria with their 2klm speed tolerance!! >:( Only reason is to raise more revenue. The law does not even recognise Australian Standards which accept a 10% variation in speedo readings, up or down, at speeds above 40kph. Even NSW has more sense than that. (So far at least)

Anyhow, bloody good holiday, sad to be back, and need another holiday to get over it.

Next year?????? Maybe a double crossing of the Simpson ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D. My choice. ;D

Found some snow on the side of the road and kids had some fun.
My brother in law decided to drive through white stuff and got bogged,so I had to whinch him out ;D
