Hey
I did some real mud driving last weekend. Ive done a fair bit of driving on rocks, gravel but not much on real mud. Here a few things i learnt, maybe it might help some other people

some things i learnt(it may sound basic but everyone learnt at some time)

-when driving down slipperery hills let the engine do the braking because too much brake and you will lock up and slide, if you are sliding use less and less brake until you regain control.

-some momentum is good in mud

-if you are unsure of depth of the mud walk it or get some one to walk it, unless u want to get bogged

-make sure you go with another 4x4 to help if you get bogged

-make sure that you have a snatch strap and know where you can connect it to both cars before you get out there

have fun

Good advice, I'll usually pull up and find a loooong stick (nice and thick) and push hard into the ruts to feel what the base is like, if I can't feel a base I try to avoid it if possible and yes momentum is your best friend. ;D

Yeah, good idea Paul. Don't be a fool and open the door when you get bogged in deep mud though ;)

It helps a lot to put a bag or something in front of the gril to prevent water pulling the fan blades into the radiator or take the fan belt off.
