the lokka performed to my expetations, did some regular tracks in toolangi today, got halfway up rocky track, and relised i was in high range, once i dropped it into low range, she just crawled up the track, no problems. 8) did the steep track, again no problems. im a happy camper ;D

Giday Axel,
Saw your truck on the road a few months ago,she looks good. I've also got an 80 series and am looking at putting diff locks in. From what I have read I beleive yours is in the rear. What I'ld like to know is how you find she preforms on road and how hard was the install ?
Thanks Evan.

it turned out to be a pain in the ass, they dont make the lokka to fit the lsd carrier housing, luckly a mate had a standard one in his garage. this ment totaly dismantling the diff, transfering the crown wheel and gears over, resetting everything. instead of a couple of hours, it took all day.what i should have done was buy a complete unit from the wreckers and saved a lot of time. Still ends up cheaper than the purchace cost of an air locker.
On road i cant really tell any difference, off road worked well, did my usual tracks with ease, and less speed. A little bit of push in the mud, but nothing concerning. overall im happy with the perromance ;D

How do you find the steering damper? i'm in need of a new one but wasn't sure weather to get a return to centre one or not. i'm running 285's mtr's with 2inch suspension lift.
gotta love the diff locks, i have detroits front and rear auto box also with the centre diff plug disconected.
Cheers

it works well, the front end feels very solid, with low tyre pressures the steering is a bit heavyer.

Would you recomend the return to centre or do you think the ordinary ones are just as good.

i had that problem, i found that there is a breather hole in the base of the dizzy, i silicoed a breather hose in to it and it seems to have fixed the problem.

Actually there is. I saw it advertised on a big billboard on my way to work the other morning. It was a new Cherokee. Interesting thing though, Jeep's marketing department decided to advertise it as a 3x3! Don't know what advantage that'll give when touring offroad but it's certainly an interesting marketing angle!

hopefull i get enought time, and not to dirty to take some photos, but this weekend, the front swivel hubs get rebuilt, new cvs, diff lock goes in, compressor and air tank, and part time 4wd kit. sounds like a lot of work when i read it ???

Got a fair bit done done today, swivel hubs have been rebuilt, free wheeling hubs have been fitted, air locker fitted, but with a slight stuff up, My mechanic in his wisdom, drilled and taped the hole for the air line in the bottem of the diff housing instead of the top, i didnt notice this untill i went to re-install the diff in the car. After a few swear words, decided to leave it as is, and ill make a cover/bash plate to protect it. Pics to follow later, as i still have to install the part time 4wd kit.
