Just added twin turbos to my fuel injected 5.0 windsor powered rangie problem is turbos are of new nissan navaras and boost to 18 psi! will require pressure solenoid change before dyno run ignition breaks down at 15psi will have some pics shortly will be intersested in any feedback

Very interesting conversion !!!!!!!!!! Interesting to see the Navara turbos are spooling to 18 pound on the 5L must be alot of gas flow. How are you going to drop the boost pressure{lighter spring in the waste gate acctuators ????} as its easier to bleed boost off {raise boost} than lower it.
Have you looked at other areas for boost problems ie waste gate sizing/ dump pipes / inlet plumbing etc.
Whats the problem with ignition, plugs /coil breaking down????
Good to see other people playing with turbo'ed V8's
Any more info or pics available ?????
Cheers Muddy.......
sounds awesome man.
why did you go the Twin turbos?

76 rangie front and rear maxi drives 4.11 gearsets 110 county c.vs c10 auto and !G60 nissan transfer! about to be turfed for a rover transfer 35" centipedes peco star rims and on second body shell about due for third! will have pics as soon as i can work out how to not real good with nerd boxes and dyno figures when boost is under control and run it up. played round today wired waste gate open proves waste gate can dump boost only starts to boost after3500rpm tryed blow off valvebut cant release enough pressure then tryed to alter spring tension in actuator but can't mig it back up without killing it.easy solution is to replace wastegate actuator with lower rate but unfortunately my local wreckers aren't charitable enoug to seperate them so have to wait till next week and ring around not happy as am so close. oops nearly forgot i went twin turbos cause i got them of a mate for jack and at the moment with oil lines pipe boost gauge etc tthey owe me less than 700 bucks hopefully with actuators and dyno tune will come out about a grand hopefully a cheap power gain plus it sounds good ha ha ha.

Twin turbo V8 Rangie :o That's my boy ;D
What suspension set up have you got? Do the 4.11 gears bring your low range back enough to allow for the 35s? And what offset are your rims? Do the 35s still hit the radius arms on full lock?
Micka.

I have custom springs from Pro Comp in Narre Warren Vic and Koni shocks front springs are about 230 pound backs 190 work quite well as oppossed to sagging springs of similar rate from a reputable rangie parts type business. Wheels are standard off set for 8" wheels so yes they hit the radius arms, i have a set of steel 8" and will alter the off set myself when i get to it. 4.11 crown wheel and pinion will bring your gearing back to the same as running 31" approximetely.

Just put wastegate actuators on (of a SAAB!) now running 4 pound boost no worries. bit sad that two local turbo installers told me i cant reduce that much boost on such a small turbine housing. feel sorry for the poor suckers who go in asking advice and get mislead. now just need to run on dyno chech fuel mixtures and work out how much boost i can run safely hopefully 6-7 pound.oh and get some pics posted

It wasnt in the hilux Nem, if thats what you were thinking, i'm not quite that silly. It was in a HT Monaro, long story.

Just had dyno tune management is having a hissy fit at full load and revs suffering pre ignition and leaning out. oh well microtech puter is on the way.anyone want to buy a loom and computer to sui 5.0l windsor already modded for any conversion haha. but on the road have gained mountains of torque nailed it yesterday exiting a round about 1st 2nd gear(same as most peoples third on manual box) fishtails up the road not bad 35's and all
if ya want u can email me some pics and ill put them on the net if ya want, duck_shire@hotmail.com

Sorry to be a wet blanket BUT. If you stuff more than abt 6 or 7 lbs of boost in, the engine will have a short life and at this boost if it actually gets traction on something, it's gunna break the driveline somewhere. But it should be fun if it lasts, but it won't.

Suprise Suprise... Ron... you have been quiet
Yea been working a way from home just come back today turbos are no longer to much underbonnet heat looking at kenne bell screw type blower
Quick question.
Why would you after all that work scrap 2 turbos, manifolds, computers and the work just to spend another few thousand on a Blower???
Would it not be easier and cheaper to perserveer with the Turbo's.
If your after a Blower then talk to me as i have a relative who builds engines and has a few 671's sitting around as well as a vortex and some other stuff.
he managed to get his clients BMW740 to accept underbonnet heat from the twin turbo setup.
Would a rangie not suffer as bad as its well ventilated and made from the best heatsink material known to man???
Where are you located? You still in Gippsland as i'm down there weekly, love to come down and take some Pix for the forum.

Under bonnet heat wasn't a problem on the road but 5500rpm 40degrees up hill and vehicle speed of about 5km/h it just so happens it builds a little heat. turbo's manifolds etc cost jack aside from time mig wire and argonshield. only things that owe money are the puta, injectors which i'll use again and the dyno time. oh and i'll change cause i wan't to.

Give Glenn a call (Brothers Offroad) as he is doing a Rangie at the moment. He has done quite a few cut & shut conversion to trayback or style side now. He is currently doing 2 Patrols & 1 Rangie.

The roof you see in the pics is the trial one, i've just got the ends welded (Can't weld aluminium myself) and used an old section of roof to join the middle with rivets and body glue
