just been haveing a look at some of the comments made about otis, what will happen when the Galahs datto gets completed
will otis be forgotten? should they be put head to head in comp?which state makes has better mods? cant wait to find out ;D ;D ;D

i think it would be unfair for otis to put it up against a modified nissan...hehe ( just joking Pat!!) ;D ;D ;D

I reckon it'd be good to see a comparo done on the two units... see who's done the best job on their rig.. ;D

I wonder if we really live in a world where we regard a project which includes a V8 swap as a budget project. Otis shows that just because the base vehicle didn't cost much, it does't mean the build up is cheap.

Good fun to read about though!

Will be good to see which way they go with the Datto.

The Otis build up was good because depending on the budget it could have stopped at any point almost.

Pat just kept going to try and take it as far as he could.

mind you Otis does seem worth the money That Pat spent...

just by looking at the build-up pics i can see his justification.. that's enough for me.. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Galah's Datto is owned by our Victorian correspondent, Anthony Kilner, not Pat, so Otis is in no immediate danger.

Depending on how the buildup goes it'd be great to see the two go head to head, so here's hoping :)

Holy smokin' build ups Forum Guys and Gals! A comparo between Otis and the Datto? Could life be that fun? Ol'Patski's been pestering me ever since the Datto was purchased to start a Vic versus New South war. I don't know whether I could convince Antman to 'pedal the metal' enough to beet Otis - holy shockin' thoughts.

Never worry forumers, this comparo will happen at some stage soon, in the greatest mag in the world and for all to see and laugh at! 8)

Just don`t go and put big fat ugly front guards on it like pat has done to otis ::)

Now lets see

V6 goes broom

But V8 goes brrrrrrrroooooooommmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D
I know which one I`ll like listening to ;)

Super revving hot sounding motors Guts. A V8 is the only way to go for this hairy super hero. Patski's V6 just doesn't sound the same although Antman reckons Pat's sounds pretty cool for a Holden!

Holy tyre covers and wheel arches Gutsy, I ain't gonna chop my gaurds to pieces. The Datto still has to look cool! Bugger what Antman says! ;D 8) ::)

Great revving V8s Another Nissannut!
Two diesels in the one garage - I think not. While the 6.5 is a beast, I'm sure Antman is right in choosing something a bit smaller - at least he thinks he's right! This little fur ball reckons the bigger the better! 8)

Im glad that otis wont be forgotten and look forward to the dattos progress ;D ;D all we need then is for the queensland correspondent Roothy to do a budget truck or would milo count as that. and then we could have 4wd monthlys very own state of origin comp ;D ;D ;D

Gallah
12-10-2003, 08:35 AM
Holy Great competitions ILVMUD! A state of origin between the 4WD Monthly guys. It sounds like fun. Each truck is very different though. Otis is a lot more radical than my Datto - at the moment! My great green coloured buddy in Queensland will tell ya he's gettin' too old for comp work and his truck is more for fun than serious comps. And me well, I have to rely on Antman to do what I want and that takes a bit.

BUT Holy excited weapons of the bush! It will be fun when all three get together for a holiday! ;D 8)

Go the Vics ;D

02-11-2003, 02:53 PM
back to the V8 thing, bugger the beer, now go get a FAT BLOCK to put in the ni$$an.... ;D

About the same as a 350 to buy/build, but much better low down torque and throttle response.

And the best bit, the fit a 350 conversion, as the bellhousing mounts and engine mounts are in the same place, just 2" wider, 2" taller, 2" longer and about 80lb heavier ;D

You Galah, the fat block will fit where the 350 would fit, not the TB42 LOL. [and the dimensions are the big block size over the small block]

I had a 454 in my 40, and a friend is building a 80 chassised 75 bodied fuel injected 502, and the BB works really well as a 4wd engine. And that noise ;D ;D ;D

But get the Antman to contact me offline at darren@offroadshop.com.au or 0409 513 549 please, I have afew ideas and components he may wish to add/use.

hey lachie what shocks and springs did you choose? what did it end up costing ya?
i found out that i can probably get a 4" lift put in mine and still be road legal in SA, just need an engineers cert :-\
if i do that and a 2" body lift and can get someone to insure me(only 20), it'll be 35's here i come ;D

i got king springs - mediums ( so they're pretty close to standard) 4 in lift..
rancho RSX9000's that were "improved to suit a GQ without losing travel.
all panhard, upper arms, etc.. all adjustable, rear swaybar dissconnects andthe front swaybar stalks lengthened...

rides perfectly on the road - apart from the vibration that comes with a shortie - but will be installing a double cardin joint to suit soon to get rid of that..

does well on the travel ramp too...

cost me $3,200.00 installed...

btw, i'm only 21 so i have the same insurance problem.. ;D ;D

It would be good if we could get a detailed story about what he is doing and what he plans to use the car for. Info on other upgrades the inclusion a 454 will have on stock components. how he will go through the engineering process and other legalities. More detailed step by step pics instead of pics of the ugg boot and Chevetta.
