How did you go with finding out about tracks? There are some good ones up in Nundle state forest I know a few people that have been going there for years on a regular basis and still havnt covered all the tracks. There is a range of tracks from easy going too some that will try out your skills. If you get lost up there (easy to do ) Just find one of the main tracks and follow it and you will get out eventually then you just have to work out which main road you are on.
Out around Manilla is the national park havnt made it there yet but it is also supposed to be good. Or if you want to play in a river you can go to bective stock reserve its only about 20ks out of town towards gunnedah and has some good gravel and hillclimbs aswell.

yeah I joined the 4wd club in december, but everything has closed down for xmas, I hope that they can take for a few trips in the new year.
Are you in tamworth? maybe we could hook up and check some of them out. I am a little busy right now opening a 4wd store in tamworth, so maybe after Jan....
thanks for the help

Drop in to the shop, Opposite Lock at 61 barnes Street Tamworth and say gday. We are open to the public from the 17th Jan.

Nah, not really.
It's 35 kilometres south of Tamworth, and it has 7 titles, 16 dams and 3 people whom which will be leasing back to me.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of farmers around the country who are seeing it tough at the moment and are just about out on their ear, so I put an offer together on 4 separate properties and 3 of the folk I have told can remain, which I am happy to say extracted some very happy tears of joy.
This way they get to stay where they love, and I make money as well.
Still gives me quite a few thousand acres to play on, and build a holiday home and getaway. I must say though, it is some of the most spectacular country I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. They are lucky folk who live there full time.
Not much in the way of 4 wheel drive tracks though.
I will make a point to drop in and buy something one of these days from your shop :)

If you are looking for any staff be sure to let me knowas a career change would be good. Shiftwork is killing my offroading with others availability.

with 12000 acres, fire up the d9, make some and we'll all come to visit!!
Warabah national park just out of manilla ( 20min ) from tamworth, go through manilla, across the bridge as though heading up to barraba, turn right immediately, follow this road for roughly 20 min. some of this road passes through private land and it seems a long time before you see a sign to the nat. park. the first time we went over there we thought we may end up at someones front door. good campsites beside the river ( excellent for cooling off or drinking beer beside whilst watching the kids) tracks start off easy with a long ascent with good views and 100 million contour humps ( or therabouts) coming to a T intersection. left = easier tracks right a couple of nasties to make life fun, either way all tracks seem to lead to dead end parking areas with a short walk to the river. some steep/washed out/loose gibber type of track sections were great fun but be careful, the park is pretty far away from prompt medical help, take usual common sense precautions. have a ball ;D

just read this post, good on you. this sort of consideration means a hell of a lot to people. it's broken a lot of folks to be left with no choice but to walk off their country. this arrangement is great. outstanding.

That's cool,
No offence taken. :)
Hijacking this thread almost,
but afew people ahve been making a good dollar in country Vic by buying land, then "leasing" off the water rights, and leasing the land, in some instances, returning the property value within 3 yrs during our dry season.
I think you will find though, Sydney office people making money, dont quite get primary producer tax rates ;)
gday mick, not in tamworth mate, in minor quick break of the banks before it washes down to boggabri Gunnedah(second in quality to my beautiful nt) will drop in when i can.
had an absolute ball in wondobah state forest few days ago, tracks were quite firm but slippery ( hard clay/rocky substrate) bit of a directional skill tester, great fun, nil dents, nil broken trees, more pinstripes.......bliss

Mick,
I dont know of too many decent tracks around the Tamworth district, but drop into the Bendemeer Pub for a top feed and a good beer. You can also drive straight through to Manilla on dirt roads, which is about 60 k's,I think.

Handyandy,
There are some good tracks around Walcha in the national parks,
There is also a 4wd property called Holdens Hideaway just out of Walcha the proeprty is owned and operated by Rob Holden.
Anyone at Walcha should be able to give you directions or you can call into my store in tamworth and I'll give you the brouchure and directions.
have fun !
Mick
unfortunately, with the way that the National Sparks & Wildfire Service is going, privately owned fourby parks will be the only way we can get off-road soon :'(
