G'day,

Had my first play at Morgan on Sunday, very impressed with what the place has to offer, even better that I will take the boat next time and explore the river!

Just a few pics (most have been done before)

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a91/squidbert/Morgan007.jpg

Aired down and ready to go (you may recognise the Rodeo 'ClintN' but with some added lift)

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a91/squidbert/Morgan010.jpg

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a91/squidbert/Morgan011.jpg

Great playground!

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a91/squidbert/Morgan013.jpg

A bit of water in the 'Basin'

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a91/squidbert/Morgan014.jpg

Co-habitating with the 'chook-chasers'! (great entertainment)

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a91/squidbert/Morgan002.jpg

Perfect spot for a BBQ and to watch .............................................

'Tonka'

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a91/squidbert/Morgan015.jpg

This lad carved the river bed with his muddies trying to get up it, after several attempts he finally 'valved it' over the top.

I jumped in the 80 and walked it in two :thumb: not to be out done, a mate of 'Tonka' got a head full of steam and threw every bit of Nissan/testosterone/ego/turbo/muddies he had but had to retreat defeated

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a91/squidbert/Morgan016.jpg

Not to be out done he decided to descend the river bank..........

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a91/squidbert/Morgan017.jpg

he made it down and almost put whatever he was carrying in his tray through his cabin and smashed the side of his truck into the side of the track just before it almost tipped over :(

(For the record a Burgundy 100 series walked it in one!)

All in all it was a great day out in good company and I will be making the return trip soon.

Cheers,

Buckman.

It is right behind the caravan park which is on the river bank. It is a family friendly spot and also makes for an easy day trip (we left the northern suburbs just after 8.30 and after a really good play I was home at 5.00).

Judging by the amount of people up there for the long weekend you would need to make a booking well in advance I reckon.

no camping in the quarry area. camping in the caravan park which has nothing to do with the quarry or camp in a designated camping spot along the river.

Did any of you drive the track to the left of those descending creek bed photos? Lots of fun without lockers... finally made it back up that one last time I was there!

Front locker going in soon to make it a walk in the park.

Sorry steve, I didn't get your post in time, and my Vodafone Dongle had no coverage at the Morgan CP. I cant wait for the end of the contract in January 2010. But Telsta still too expensive.

14 cars, 3 lost number plates in the mud pools, and I'm uploading some pics now. Lockers were fantastic, climbed the vertical wall with Oomph, freaked the Mrs out so much she moved the video camera away as it launched over the edge:cry::cry: and missed it. hoping to get some pics from others soon.

nah, we were there the week before & it was wetter again, the creeks with all the rock steps were dry.

there had been heaps of water flowing down as there was lots of silt that had washed down, being sand it just soaks in.

Good stuff fellas. looks awesome there. I have been talking about doing it. I might sneak away friday arvo and find somewhere to camp. So If I'm right, you go into morgan towards the ferry and turn right down the road that splits the caravan park and wander off to the right a bit further up to the right?

I went there a few years ago, the weekend I bought my D22. I didn't go very far though coz we were there for water skiing suposedly..but by the time I worked out there was some wheelin to be done I'd had a few :drink: and thought I better remain sat in the camp chair on the river bank.

Would I be on the right track for getting to the quarry?
appreciate any info. I'm busting to get the 80 series up there for a workout. could probably make a day trip out of it at the worst

And with rego's clearly visible so if anyone wanted to get stroppy about it you've both identified yourselves and provided the evidence?

You might care if they shut down this free place to drive.

I am pretty sure he didn't try to roll it! Long way home without side windows and smashed guards.

He was at Loveday in the circlework paddock, groomed clay circle and he still went over.

And people cover their plates so scammers dont use their details to sell cars online in scams like has been done many times over before!

...yeah so got mad plans for this weekend at morgan...got the suzuki club heading up there as we speak to absolutely destroy the tracks with their awesome 'wheelspinning hillclimb techniques'...got hold of some back-hoes to create some insane holes so we can chuck some circe work over the top...gonna make sure we have maximum capacity of passengers everywhere....fill the trays with small children...and make sure there are by-standers everywhere...preferably close to where we'd be doing recovery situations..which will be regularly due to multiple rollovers.....scoped out a mad hill climb last time, so we'll rep it this time round...gonna chuck a mad doughie on it..yes thats right...doughie on a hillclimb......got channel 9 coming down to support the event so we have plenty of publicity of how real 4wd'ers do it in proper 4x4 parks.....everyones invited, bring ya family along, bring ya dust masks, its gonna get dusty on the rutted doughie pad!......hopefully this event will take off as an annual thing....Big Doughie Out (BDO).........

gonna be a great day:D

lol'z has anyone told you that you're AWESOME:crazy:

oh' by the way, i sold ya high lux already :D:D:D

EDIT:

FYI it wasn't the suzuki club up there... & if you look at some of PanterA's photo's it clearly shows NISSAN's with there AWESOME LSD's spinning wheels! I've got air lockers & I don't think I did any more damage than the wind & rain.

Sounds like someone needs to take a chill pill...

Atari, i tried your email address but unable to send coz i dont know how to turn off the email scam filter.

im disappointed to hear the vehicle has been sold, but am still in the market for a 4x4. Id prefer the new BMW X5 and am willing to pay top dollar for a good one. As i will have to buy sight unseen can you organise freight. I am willing to pay in full up front because i trust you. If you are unable to get the X5 id settle for a white holden ute with a tradesman back or even a black duel cab, I hear they are easy to find around morgan.:D

I was at Landcruiser Park a month ago and noticed some signs around the place.
Maybe some of these signs should be placed around Morgan Quarry!

No real need for signs like that at Morgan - we are all responsible people here on the Forum, so ALL the fella's who do things like that go out of their way to tell the world all about their antics and then post up pics of their vehicles with rego clearly visible on a public forum, dobbing themselves in just so the rest of us don't get accused of all being 4WD vandals & ratbag drivers.

And of course they realise that in any public area like Morgan the normal road rules apply at all times and photographic evidence plus their own admission of doing things like doughies or even fast 'U' turns where they lose control & get sideways can result in prosecution; and that it can mean that the broader 4WD community gets blamed for their moment of enjoyment that probly would've gone un-noticed except they had to tell the whole world about how big and brave they were with published pictorial evidence handing free ammunition to those who just love calling ALL 4WD'ers vandals and incompetent drivers - so they've taken steps to make sure that it's ONLY THEM that take the blame, and not the rest of us!

So nice of them, isn't it!?

lol'z i remember that! i think it was MAVRK-4 having a go at PanterA....Even though the place is an old quarry and was used to having the guts ripped out of it by front end loaders it is still crown land therefore public property so I guess that leaves it open to normal road rules? IMO you have to be careful about what is posted up.
BTW the pic's showing plumes of dust shooting in the air proves a distinct lack of traction or deliberate spinning.

shall we get back on topic of how cool morgan is!?...:)

"whats the worst damage people have done to their cars up there?????"

i dented my front bash plate and dinged back tail gate last time i went on the rocky hillclimbs!....destroyed an alloy bullbar on my old subaru L series one time! (misjudged a mound i went over and bent the bullbar into my front quarter panel...i was devo'd!)

Just a bit of sledging but yeah fair enough, with no-one around and only yourselves in the car you were only having a bit of fun. I already hate having to drive to Morgan to get a good challenge, I would hate to know where I would have to drive if it was closed down because of a (;)massive over exaggeration;)) rollover that caused a fire and the area burnt down!!!!! :thumb::thumb:
As for damage, I dont go hard enough, too much track erosion!!:D
But seriously I have ploughed my alloy bar into the front guard there too! Turned the wheel but tyres didnt grip.

Cool fun.
