G'day, went for a look with the family up through Walhalla and Woods point.
Headed up to wards Licola and turned off up Cheynes Bridge track and on to Mt Terrible, where there was still some decent snow after the recent falls.

From there up to "S16" track, easy run, and Mt Selma track to more snow... Mt Selma track is good fun, steep sections and was a bit washed out, not bad...

Headed down South Rd to the Walhall-Woods point rd and down Leviathan tk to see the mining relics there. A huge boiler and other bits and pieces. Need to look up the history on these! Incredible what they brought in in the 1860's to these Valleys.

The track kinda peters out, got some flex shots where it stopped :D

Back on track over Johnsons Hill tk to Comet Flat reserve, where the goulbourn river was running a little higher than usual! Other half very concerned, having little faith in the powers of the Mighty Mav. Contemplating a swim.

After crossing the river 6 times (over and back for video, over again, and then three more times through the camping area!!) came into woods point, not raining like last time! Obligatory Woods point pic... the "servo", now closed. A shame really.

Could get used to Woods Point. Nice place.
From there just headed up the Jamieson rd and spent the night in a cabin. Next day headed around the Eildon rd for a view of the water supply they are diverting to Melbourne. Good luck with that... 28% right now... although it has been rising slowly all year...

Then up Newmans Spur to Mt Terrible, hoping for some views but it was vey misty. Better than last time though Spoonz'es, at least I could see more than 100yds!!

The track was a bit more 4wd territory than I remembered, maybe its deteriorated a bit since last time. The snow definately made a difference.

Down Mt Terrible track to Ryans Spur tk, over corn hill, over Mt Matlock. At this stage keen to get home so slacked off on the photo's. Gap getaway was closed, so pushed on to the Thompson Dam wall. Where more of Melbournes water is supposed to be coming from.. Again good luck. Here it is at 32%.

From there dropped in on Walhalla for a coffee but at 4.00 on a Thursday arvo, in school hols, only place open was the Post office. Sadness.
Was a fun couple of days, kids enjoyed it and we reckon we'll go back and camp at Woods Point some time and get out to some more mines and do some fossicking! Same with Jamieson.
The Mav behaved well, although there was a moment of concern when the power steering belt was slipping after the water crossings!
Cant wait to get out to Dargo in a few weeks time.

Yeah was good to have a look and see what we couldnt last time. The snow on the hills south of Mt terrible was a surprise, there was none on Terrible, but mt matlock was well covered.

Heh heh yep, looks and feels a lot better out there than on the driveway/in the carpark at work!!! Specially with those new tyres ;)

Cheers Steve, it's unreal finding that stuff out there. The boiler there would have driven a stamper, some of the gear from which is what the lad is sitting on there. Going up there again with some others in a couple of weeks.

It sure is. And thats just the foothills! For me the high country starts at Jamieson - Licola Road. South West of there is jist hills and bush!! ;)
All good fun though. Great to get up there and play in some snow.
That Mt Terrible track is a bit of fun - I dont know why but the time before it seemed like I could of taken the Falcon up. This time was different!
